Landing Trim

I've got two questions that have vexed me for years.

1.)Is there a way to get wall trim similar to the stairs to display automatically?

2.) Is there a way to nip off the exposed wall trim at it hits a landing like this?

Following, as I've been bit by this too. I know using 3D solids can be used to trim the landing but the protruding trim, dunno.

The answer to both is to model them manually. Turn off stringers / trim at wall and model with either a 3d molding or 3d solid in section view. More or less the same for trim at landings.
