wpdesigninc
How do I adjust the grout line size in an elevation view to reflect 1/8" or 1/16 grout spacing for a backsplash? I want to control the layout precisely for the installer so I can control/see the size of end cuts. Using X14 Premier.
robdyck
If you are using a vector view, simply adjust the material pattern to account for the tile size plus the grout size. I'm not aware of any tile pattern that provides 2 lines to represent the actual grout width, rather the pattern accounts for same edge to same edge distancing. If you need to show dimensions to the pattern lines, then make a cad detail from the view after you've made all your pattern adjustments.
glennw
If all you want is cad, you could draw one regular polygon starter tile accurately placed. You could use the same technique but use a variety of 3D objects to represent a single tile like a Material Region, Splashback, Slab, Solid, etc... Then use Multiple Copy with a Secondary Offset to create an array that takes into account the tile size plus the joint width. These tiles could be very thin and use a different 3D object placed behind the whole area for the grout lines. Build it in Chief like you would in the RW. This simple one took about a minute or so.
