nick66
I have a home that has wood siding, the panels are installed on a 45 degree angle.can I somehow replicate that in chief? If not how can I import the original Siding to match the add on? I also have a question about vinyl siding. How to create the J molding around the windows and corners of the house. I just created a polyline solid 1/2" in depth and dragged it to the desired location. Is there a better way to do this?
Kbird1
there is vinyl siding in the CertainTeed library , but not sure if Chief does the J-Mold which is normally about 7/8 thick I think ,check a Manufacturer's Site. Can you not rotate the siding texture 45° in the material's definition ? (texture tab) M.
Gawdzira
The corners would basically be resized corner trim. See Build----> Trim-----> Cornerboards Or get fancy and make a molding polyline and a custom molding. I am not sure if you would be able to see the difference in the model or elevation. nick66
If I wanted to import a picture for a accurate rendering of the add on. Is that possible?
Kbird1
yes have a look in the KB for Tutorials on importing and making new Materials. lots of good info over there on stuff like this eg. your 45° rotate (of siding) http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00194/8/Chief-Architect/Materials/Changing-the-Direction-of-a-Materials-Pattern-and-Texture.html these apply too as Chief can do anything they can http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00138/49/Home-Designer/Materials/Adding-a-Custom-Material.html http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-01202/49/Home-Designer/Materials/Importing-Custom-Materials.html
