j2narchitecture
Hello. I am running into an issue where automatically framed rafters are not the same width along the rafter's length. Has anybody run into this? If so, any thoughts on how I can fix this would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. See attached photo.
joey_martin
There is most likely an invisible "attic" wall up there causing the issue. And FWIW..that's the depth of the rafter.
j2narchitecture
@joey_martin Thank you for your response. There was an invisible wall there. I removed it then regenerated roof framing, the rafter depth issue remains. By the way, thanks for the FWIW about the depth of rafter. I should've known that. Just goes to prove that I need more caffeine today. Ha.
joey_martin
OK, so next step would be to check the roof planes themselves. Did you trim back the main roof plane and join it with the shed roof? It appears the fascia and/or sub fascia setting of the main roof plan is cutting the shed roof rafter. Post the plan and I'll have a look, or try cutting that main roof plane back. You can still have the overhangs that stick down, but the main sections need to meet at that intersection.
j2narchitecture
The thought is to build the new shed roof over the existing roof plane Trying to upload plan. CA is telling me there is an error processing upload. File is 14.1 mb and max upload is 25 mb.
j2narchitecture
Eric - Thank you for letting me know about plan needing to be closed. Ok. Here is the plan. Thanks. Lake Remodel 1.plan
javatom
Let Chief create automatic roof framing. Open the original roof plane. This would be the one UNDER the one you have built over the top. Open the dbx and check "retain roof framing". Drag the original roof plane up to where the intersecting point is with the new roof. That will make the new roof regenerate the framing while keeping the old framing in tact.
