Center Object Between Openings

Recommended Posts

Sorry Guys I accidentally deleted the other thread.

As Mark and Solver said.

The key to getting the line to snap to door casings is to click the CAD Detail From View under the CAD Drop-down menu

What Mark said.

Place cabinet, drag sides to casing (they will snap to the casing), change cabinet to correct width.

Added by Eric.

You could use Mark's method easily instead of doing the CAD Detail From View, by using the stretched cabinet as the line.

Place cabinet, stretch it, move it out of the way. Place one or more objects along wall, then center them on the stretched cabinet.

Only reason I used a cabinet was OP said he wanted a cabinet centered between two openings.

In which case no need to move out of the way, stretch between casings open DBX and resize-will be centered when done.

Other objects might do differently depends.

And what I was suggesting, for example, you wanted 2 or 3 cabinets (or other objects) centered between casings, that you could use the stretched cabinet, since it snaps to the casing, as your object to center on.

  1. Group select the cabinet along with both openings
  2. Click Align/Distribute Objects
  3. Under Move Objects Horizontally To, select Space Evenly

The deleted thread was asking specifically about centering between casings, not openings, and mentioned the possibility of different sized casing.

My suggestion works for most of those scenarios as well.

I see.  You have to uncheck Ignore Casing For Opening Resize in order for it to work with casing.
