Upgrading from Home Designer to Chief Architect

Recommended Posts

I have been using the DIY software Home Designer Architect, I just upgraded to Chief Architect Interiors.  I have several projects that are already done in Home Designer.  I am able to open them  in Chief Architect, however the rendering doesn't look any better than Home Designer (one of the main reasons I upgraded).  I am wondering if it is just because it was created with Home Designer and I need to start over or is there something I am missing?

Thanks for the help!

Standard renderings look the same in both.

I believe Interiors has Physically Based Rendering (PBR) and Ray Tracing, which will both be an improvement.

Search here for threads on PBR as it takes some setup and understanding of lighting and materials -- just like a Ray Trace, to work the best.

Photorealistic rendering is an Art one learns through study, trial, and error activity. It is not a simple as pushing a button, you adjust, manually lighting, material properties, and other environmental variables until you get the look you seek. It is a learned skill.
