Small dimensions covering their own line

Recommended Posts

Every time I place dimensions, smaller dimensions will cover the line of the dimension with its white box. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Either moving the white box, disabling it, or moving the dimension slightly up?

See the 3 1/2" and 5 1/2" dimensions in the attached picture.

If you select the dimension, you will see a small box on each of the dimension text.  You can grab each one and move the text to wherever it makes sense.

Yes, that works, but after moving 100 dimensions on a plan it gets tedious and time consuming. I'm looking for a solution to solve the tedious/time consumption problem.

Why are you dimensioning the width of every wall? It is common practice to dimension from the outside face of the framing to the face of the framing when dimensioning a plan. If you are concerned with the Subcontractors being able to differentiate 2x4 and 2x6 wall from each other then use a different hatch pattern for 2x4 and 2x6 walls and create a wall legend.

For cabinet and Interior Deco plans it is common practice to dimension to the inside of the finish layer of the walls.

Go to the default label text box and set it transparent so that the boxes go away.

I am using CAX6 and am trying to get the exterior dimensions of a residential structure to reach to the extent just under the siding. From inside to outside, the exterior wall should have 1/2" wallboard, 2x6 stud walls, 1/2" OSB, 2" rigid insulation, and then siding for which I've allowed 1/2". All of the wall components will sit on the platform except for the siding, which should cover the rim joists.

I believe I have the correct dialog box and selections to do it (or maybe not …. see attached screen shot). However, after I make the selections in the Wall Type Definitions dialog box and back out of the dialog boxes leading there, I find that the cross section is incorrect, and the outside of the siding is flush with the platform. If I return to the Wall Type Definitions dialog box to find out why, I find that my selections have not been saved.

I'm careful to make sure that I back out of each dialog box correctly (Clicking OK, OK, Done, etc.) but the changes I make are not saved.

There's probably something I need to select or conditions I have to meet, but darned if I can figure them out after hours of messing with it.

Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?  Thanks!

I cant seem to figure out what this "line" is that is attaching from the wall end through the cabinet. That 'square' section of walls is full length and then it switches to half wall for a peninsula. Sometimes it lets me work with it just fine and then whenever I try to make that base cabinet bigger than 45" wide and line it up against the corner, that faint angled line from the wall end to the cabinet corner (under BCB42R) appears.

I have a railing that is currently being dimensioned to from the outside of the panel. I would like to transition that dimension to either the center of the post or the outside of the post. However, I am unable to manipulate the extension line itself to snap to the corner of the post.
