Michael_Gia
Is it only possible to place exterior light fixtures on exterior wall types, or can I place them somehow on other objects such as p-solids or soffits etc...? They don't seem to want to snap to anything but exterior walls. I'm trying to place an exterior wall fixture on a brick column that I made out of a p-solid. Front porch stuff. Alaskan_Son
Try these 2 things... Either add the symbol to your user library, Open Symbol while it is in the library, change the y offset to zero, and under the Options tab change it to Floor Mounted. Now you can use it anywhere you want... OR...place a small section of room divider alongside your p-solid and uncheck "Invisible Wall". Those are a couple options that I think should work for you.
Michael_Gia
Nevermind, use a soffit. Is that the "proper" way?

I wouldn't do it that way, but whatever works for you. In addition to the options I mentioned above, you can also simply use a cabinet for your column (depending on the design of course). In X9 those fixtures will automatically attach to cabinets.
Michael_Gia
Thanks for mentioning the "open symbol" approach. I always forget that's there. I've become programmed to always "open object" instead. Then when I don't see any parameters that can be adjusted I assume there's no other option. DRAWZILLA
You can also just place the outlet cad block in the plan, if you don't care about the materials list. But if you do just place the outlet (symbol) on the side on a wall that doesn't show on your plan.
