brian-sdesign
I'm doing a project with a steep roof and this will have living space in the attic area with dormers for windows. My question is about where to put the roof objects. If my main walls are on floor 1, attic walls on floor 2, where would you put the roof? My other thread regarding the dormer tool not working for me, I had a comment about moving the roofs up a level but this did not seem to make much difference. Anyway just some general tips for a novice would be appreciated.
brian-sdesign
Here is a link to my previous thread with the dormer issues and also has a link to my chief file https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/11449-roof-dormer-help-needed/
joey_martin
Build the model like you would build the home. Roof sits on the floor 1 plates, or on a small knee wall. There is also a checkbox during the roof setup to tell Chief to ignore the second floor when adding a roof. That should give you what you are looking for. brian-sdesign
So roof objects on floor 2 along with the attic and dormer walls?
brian-sdesign
Another question.. how do I stop interior walls from automatically generating attic walls? I have the check box for stop wall at ceiling above checked but I am still getting auto walls up on my attic level. Chief will not let me delete them either. brian-sdesign
That did it for the attic walls. What I still don't understand is how you keep them from generating in the first place.
