basilbabaa
Is there a way to import this file and separate the items contained in it into individual components? https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=235e3e3ac2f620a43bd5bed2701d5593
Chopsaw
Yes this can be done in Chief but you will find it quite challenging simply because of the number of surfaces in this particular file. What component would you like to isolate? Have to run now here is some reading. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/8375-editing-3d-warehouse-objects/ https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/9483-how-to-explode-or-ungroup-imported-skp-models/
johnny
I think the difference is that you can't "explode" the objects while keeping sub-component integrity, but you can explode the surfaces. You should separate what you want in Sketchup and export/import your "objects" individually.
Dennis_Gavin
You can explode in SU and save a selected "component" from SU to wherever you want to put it. Componets are a group of surfaces (usually a symbol or part of one). Or you can delete everything you don't want in the main SU file do a save as and then reopen the original file and do the same for another item. I looked at the SU file and some of those items are individual items but not components. Simply select an item, right click and select make component and then you can select and right click again and save the component. The ones that are already components you will get a save as option. After saving you can then importinto Chief.
