I am drawing exterior stairs to exit and they need to descend 1/2 the distance and change directions at a landing a u shaped. I used the stair tool and drew the 2 runs and the with the stair tool active clicked where the landing was to be built. what was built was an interior landing with no support But the landing needs to have the post and bean framing of a deck. I could not see how to accomplish this? I deleted the landing and drew a deck but it placed at the second floor and extended the lower portion of the stairs to the deck. Am I missing some easy way to do this?

If the landing does not snap right to the edge of the stair it will not connect properly. There are a lot of variations of what could be happening and it is hard to surmise without viewing the plan file. Post your plan file and I am certain someone will be able to solve the problem.

The program will not automatically add any support structure for stair landings.

You can manually add your support structure using the framing tools.

Or you can create a deck for the landing.  If you create a deck, you will have to manually set the height that you want.  You may also have to drag your stair ends away and then back to make them connect to the deck.

I can't find answers to three challenges I'm having with this stairway.  On the lower section, I need an open stairway with one stringer - treads stopping 2" away from outside wall.  The landings need to be open (like the lower section).  Then I need the top section to be closed.

Is there a way to modify the lower and upper sections seperately?  How do I get the landings to be open underneath?

As always, your input is appreciated!

Can anyone tell me how to have stair sides to match ht of pony wall allaround like attached existing pic and no posts toward house sitcking up?
I am just doing a remodeling adding gazebo roof.
I would appreciate the help. Stairs are existing .

Thank you if you can help.

I have a building which has a staircase outside of the structure that I'd like to display on the second floor plan. Is there a way to do this without creating walls under the stairs or encasing the area with invisible walls? Thanks!

      Hello!
I am trying to create a second landing in my stairs that just so happens to be above a door on my first floor. Instead of creating the landing where I am trying to position it to lead to the second floor, my stairs and landing are going through the door. I have attached a screenshot of what is currently happening. I am just trying to get my stairs to go to the second floor and not be squashed into the door. Also I have Chief Architect 10X
      Thank you!

I am using Home Designer Suite and have a couple questions/ problems and have attached a sample plan to illustrate.

      1. Can you place furniture on a stair landing without adjusting the Floor to Bottom value? In the sample image, item 1 shows two chairs placed "on" a landing. However, chair "a" was raised using the Floor to Bottom value and "b" was not. Another problem is as soon as I place the chairs they "disappear" beneath the landing! Even when I raised chair "a" to be above the landing, in the plan view it is still hidden! The only way I can see it was to make the Landing fill semi-transparent. It is like there is no way to "bring the chair to the front" so it is first selected (unless I haven't found this feature yet)?

      2. This stair goes to the second level and although I have no ceiling above the landing, there is a solid wall (item "c") that I don't want there (the "x" area should be gone so you can see down to the landing below). If I make the wall invisible, then the exterior wall to the roof line above disappears (since it is the same wall... this is understandable). But how can I get rid of area "c" so I can view the landing from the second floor?

If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it! Thanks.
