Reminds me of the days when I used Chief '97 and Windows 3.1 The 3D worked back then, it always has.

Tuesday evening I started a high quality, kitchen Ray Trace. I meant to stop it in about an hour. I went to bed and the next morning I went skiing with family. That evening I remembered about the Ray Trace and finally stopped it after 23 hours 8 min. and 238 passes. I was surprised to find the file size was only 102K as a jpeg. The quality of the photo is outstanding. Has anyone else let it go that long?

You could always tell Chief that you are at the equator.

It could be the time of year and the sun angle. Did you set up - Preferences > CAD > Sun Angle? Shadows would be different now than in summer.

Hi Bob, I'm no expert but it looks to me that the sunlight is causing it. Toggle the sunlight off & on and you'll see it all matches. On the full camera view, right click away from the building the "Toggle Sunlight" should be an option.

OWC, Other World Computing, is where I bought it. The sales rep told me that it's supported by the Apple OS updates.

You convinced me, I just ordered an EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition Graphics Card for my Mac Pro. I upgrading from a Radeon HD 4870. I should see about a 5X increase.

I have an X6 plan for a Patio home. Our next electrical job is the same Patio home with different kitchen cabinets. Is there a way to make universal changes to all the cabinets? The only way I know is to change each cabinet individually. The finish and cabinet style is different.

Grandpap told me that only Chicken Coops and Outhouses have doors that swing out. I guess we can add powder rooms and commercial buildings

From an electrical standpoint, I would recommend installing a new 20 amp 12/2 dedicated circuit to the microwave. By three wires, do you mean black, white, ground, or three cables. Cables would be 12/2 wires. The outlet is usually installed inside the cabinet above the microwave, not behind it. The microwave will come with a template to mount the back plate and a template for the cabinet to drill the holes. It usually takes two people, one to hold the microwave and one to install install the screws from the cabinet down into the top of the appliance.

Printing to PDF on my Mac is very quick. I just did a four page layout, including a floor overview, in less than two seconds. I wonder what the difference is. Do you have a full version of Adobe Acrobat?

Some may know this, some may not. On a Mac, clicking the red X closes the window but does not Quit the program. The Program is still running. Example: Safari > select Safari > Quit Safari will quit the program, clicking the red X only closes the window. Command + Tab will show which Programs are open, Command +Tab again will cycle through the open Programs. Command +Q will quit the Program. To see the Memory being used; from the desktop > select Go > Utilities > Activity Monitor Select the Memory Tab. Take a look at the Toolbar under View, it gives some interesting options.

I've had a few crashes on my Mac Pro. I've found that starting from a cold boot works best. By cold boot, I mean turning the computer off and waiting ten seconds or more before starting again. From what I've been told, turning it off clears the memory while a reboot does not always clear it. I would also try running "Repair Disk Permission".

Apple Numbers is similar to Excel, Pages is similar to Word and Keynote is similar to PowerPoint. In most cases the Apple software can open the Microsoft counterpart, so Numbers can open an Excel document. I use Pages and Numbers for business. I have them on my Mac and my iPhone. Any document that I store on iCloud can be opened and edited on both a Mac and iPhone. If you own a Mac, you get 5GB of free storage space on iCloud. To setup iCloud: Go to the Apple icon in the upper left corner > System Preferences > iCloud. Setup is easy. After that you can select the items that Sync on your Mac, iPhone and iPad. I have everything checked except Keychain and Back to my Mac. Now the cool part, if you add a Bookmark in Safari on your iPhone or iPad, it's now on your Mac and vice versa. Make a Calendar change, it changes on all instantly. The same is true with Mail accounts, Notes, Reminders, Photos and Documents. Find my Mac will locate you wireless computer and IOS devices like iPad and iPhone. It will show you there location on a map. To see what's on iCloud, you can access it in https://www.icloud.com You can add documents to iCloud simply by dragging them from Finder.

Here's another suggestion: If you buy an Apple TV for $99, you can mirror your display to your TV wireless. You can use the TV to show customers CA. The Apple TV is a small device that connects to your TV with HDMI. It makes your TV "Smart" but it can also mirror your computer display wireless.

I think the investment pays off in longevity of the hardware. I have a 2009 Mac Pro dual quad core. I added a solid state drive (SSD) and added some RAM. This computer is still very fast and reliable.

I thought it may be helpful to post some advice for our new Mac users. Please add your thoughts to this thread.Here's a few: 1. After installing new software or if your Mac is acting goofy, it's a good idea to run "Repair Disk Permissions". To do this, go to your Desktop. In the menu bar at the top, click Go > Utilities > Disk Utility. Under the First Aid tab, select your hard drive and Repair Disk Permissions. Let it run. 2. Use "Time Machine". This is a backup utility to an external hard drive. It's one of the best backups I've seen. To set this up, select the Apple icon in the upper left corner > System Preferences > Time Machine. Select the disk you want to back up to and turn ON Time Machine. On my Mac Pro I use a 3TB GDrive external HD. I use a 2TB Airport Time Capsule for my MacBook Air. The Airport Time Capsule is a wireless router and wireless 2TB HD. If this thread shows interest, we can get into things like setting up iCloud and Syncing computers, iPhones and iPads or we can discuss networking Windows with Macs.
