If anyone likes a trend of modern farmhouses and barns this is a project for a young bull-rider who's been winning and winning - but wanted something small, modern, and yet something that held to his roots of "farm" living. Designed in Chief but rendered in Lumion.

I had used a 3D modeling line in floor plan view and i was very surprised there wasn't a 2D representation of the width like there is for a normal modeling line. Since i was lining up a barn door hinge, using the 3D modeling line as the tract, it was a lot more difficult doing the alignment with no point of reference on the thickness. Just struck me as very odd...perhaps a bug even?

Do 3D modeling lines really not have a visual on the floor plan like normal modeling lines?... why is that?

I sent you a copy of the file if you wanted to see.

Thanks - that worked and got me by but I'll report the issue too.

The Bella Drawer is from the Medallion cabinet collection that Chief supplies....

I'm using some Chief bonus lib pulls but i dont see an obvious location to change the "depth" from the drawer and door. Chief is placing them "in" the door/drawer. I see where to change other locations of these pulls but nothing for depth. I have to be missing something.

Here is what I mean.

Larry, looking at your file - here are different levels and types of flooring. Are the finish floors supposed to be different? Also, some of the crawl has framed floor so what Chief is trying to do - i think - is keep the fin floor the same - so the stem would need to be about a foot taller to get that done.

I agree 100%....makes it too confusing.
-
I dont know if this helps but its all starting to make sense on my end - but i think your template has an issue.
-
Hey Larry - I found the location of that default but as you will see in the video its still not 100% correct in the measurement.
-
These are 2 examples of using the simple room fills - not solid color fills for the flooring but i personally like this better (preference). The first one is directly out of Chief and the second one is some editing in Illustrator.

Nice work Graham.

Im a bit surprised you found an awning of that size that works - but good if you did. However, id really learn to make a custom roof plane if i was you, since that is really an important thing to know. If you have a current lic of SSA here is a link to an important video: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/5447/roof-basics.html

Please keep in mind that to do something which will have the true 3d relief its going to take some extra work. There was a recent thread on this on the forums you should look at.

Thank you! Lots of drill down options to set it appears.

Trying to force myself to use Annosets more often and sometimes it just doesn't make any sense (to me at least). Here I believe my settings are correct on where text will show up, but surprised to see that isn't the case.
-
You can create them the same way you do a custom mill-work piece from what i've seen. However, did you see the SSA library where you can download more pre-made?

I too think the macro tip is great. Id just say though I do think Chief should have a dedicated keynote tool - and since we can kinda get one 1/2 way now with cheating the app and using plant schedules, it should be super easy for Chief to at least just give us a general schedule out of the box.

Doug, I'm lost...i've never heard of the type of plan you're suggesting. If a contractor asked me to provide "flat projections" i would take that to mean basically like a truss diagram except for rafters. Something kinda like below but for every "rafter" segment just like a truss package would include. I have had framers ask for this before. I can't see how what you are describing would help them. Something like this at every rafter - depending on roof complexity - would.

Hopefully that does't mean Ebay, otherwise there is a good chance you have a pirated copy. You may want to check with Chief.

Thanks guys. So if I had a fav object like wall type I could use a button to quickly access that.

Is it possible to make a custom button to turn a certain layer on/off or set of layers? Or for that matter, can you make a button to change layersets and annosets? I've seen some people with custom buttons and don't fully understand the limitations of those.
