  1. Yes. Cut the details directly from the model in the area that you are detailing. This page is a example of details that are "live", meaning if the model changes, these details will update. They will need a little TLC after the update to ensure the fill and labels are updated, but otherwise they are good to go.

     

    I rarely "draw" a detail any longer. Model it correctly and cut the section to create the detail.

  2. Build the model and cut the details directly from there...nothing to draw, just model and go. Fine tune them and save them to your library or, like I do, keep the majority of them live.

  3. Nope. I think the sill plate get's centered to the bottom plate/wall above, but when a brick veneer is added, and the foundation is then offset to account for the brick ledge, no matter how thick you make the foundation wall, the 2x6 will be out of place. The only quick and easy way that I know of to fix it, is to make the plate a 2x4.

  4. Importing the AutoCAD file would not save anytime at all, in fact it would add hours to the process. I have been using Chief for many, many years, and cannot get the CAD to WALLS option to save me anytime at all.
