  1. My guess, that is a "deck" and you disconnected a wall to make a change or some sort of design move. When you do that all the decking and framing will disappear unless you check the box that tells Chief to "keep framing".

Older versions were not as bad at simply dropping all your framing if you moved a wall, X16 is. Still gets me everything I have a deck or balcony.

Hit the REBUILD framing button and it will come back, but be warned, the beams and posts will be different if you had moved those during your design process. Be prepared to redo all that custom framing work.

  2. Draw them manually, use the back-clipped back section camera and cut the details from your model, download the details library, bring CAD details into a CAD Detail and adjust. Many ways to do it.

    Joey,

How did you create the B+B with the Material Region? Would you mind sharing?

    Thanks,

While in Elevation camera view I draw a small strip, then open that strip to modify. Most important to me, is to uncheck the box that cuts the existing siding so that the batten sets on top of the siding. Size and shape accordingly.

I see you put a corner to corner dimension so trades can verify square.  I do this too, but never seen it done by others.  Glad I am following such a pro at this.

This how I used to do them to, haven't had one in a couple years though.

Was taught that in Arch school in the 80's and have always done it that way. Sometimes I put 2 different corner to corner, but always at least 1.

  5. The walk-out basement wall is the bearing wall. Simply show it. You're overthinking it. I have SPVs for foundation and for floor plan, but on a walk-out that framed wall would show on both and I use a layer for CAD, Foundations to trace the lower "stem wall" and show it on the foundation plan only.

These are accomplished with saved plan view and layer/default sets with those views.

  6. You put a lot in there for a software newbie.

Start by fixing your foundation. Turn the auto foundation feature on and change your default foundation to slab.

Once you that sorted out, turn auto foundation off, and now you can go to the garage room and add the framing layers to the top of the slab, along with the sub-floor and finished floor layer to get what you want in there.
