BTW, ceiling breaks are not selectable, however, you can turn them on and off in the layer display.
-
If you're referring to the dotted lines inside your red circle, they look like ceiling break lines (some of them are ceiling break lines). These ceiling breaks are generated when the roof planes are put in. If you change your ceiling height in that area, you'll see those ceiling break lines move too. If you do a section view, you'll be able to see what's going on there.

It's that way in all versions.

Looks pretty cool

I've got a laundry list of questions
Dillon, if you're using a Premier version, email me a list of your questions. Maybe I could help you decide if you want to keep it or not. Very good program though. I would need to know what version you're using. My email is below or you could call my cell 832-754-6160.

Call me if you need help creating a profile plan. I can make time for you. 832-754-6160

Yes. Create a new profile plan.

BTW, an option would be to do a "cad detail from view". Then you could make it easier to work with in the cad detail>block it and save it it to your library. Just tried it and it works.
-
You're using a "note schedule" which I'm assuming is why you can't block it and save it. I don't use the note schedule. I do mine only using text and polylines. This way you can block it and save it.

Not 100% sure but can you add a poly line box with a hidden line style and block them together then add to your library?
Yes. I have notes and legends and details with boxes around them and have them saved to the library for future use. you can always unblock them when bringing them in to your plan or cad detail for editing. I do this in almost every plan.
-
Why not shift select>block> add to library? A separate plan would be fine too.

I'm not sure how you were able to do this before since, as far as I know, the program has always worked this way.
I've been using the program since V8 (base) and was never able to do this. Yes, at one time, there was a version 8 base. Didn't take long to upgrade to full version once I learned the limitations.

Yes, true, but it takes less than 40 seconds to place solid filled filler pieces to get the proper look. I learned many many years a go to stop fighting the way Chief works and find simple workarounds. Yes it's a work around and yes it did take 40 seconds and yes Chief's stair tools aren't that great but how hard do you want to fight Chief's shortcomings?
Well put. I've been saying that for years.

You could have created the p-solid risers in less time it took you to ask the question.
Where have I seen a reply like this before?

Not a good answer but keep it with open risers and manually place risers with solids or something. Now you'll probably get the look you're looing for.

For me, sometimes the frieze boards show up and sometimes they don't or are only partially there.
I find this sometimes to be true also. Diane, I'm sure you'll get it done one way or another. As we have been saying for years, there's generally more than one way to do things in Chief. Just do what works best for you.

DianeP, Give this a try
Looks like that works too.

True, but that takes more time to get it right.
Well, the time you spent creating the image showing the problem and the time you spent typing these posts, you could have done it using solids. Just a thought. I have done this many times and it really doesn't take that much time.
-
You could always do a polyline solid in an elevation. Shape it as you like at the bottoms.

That's a huge roof pitch change. Generally when I make a big roof pitch change and even change the framing size, I delete that roof plan, make correct changes and redraw the roof plane. Reconnect all necessary roof planes. Most of my roofs are done manually.
-
I hate to say this because often it's not a popular answer but if you learn how to draw roofs manually and understand how they work, you can usually make the roof work fairly easily.

In most cases there are areas I want to show that divide, so I usually create a new layer, "Invisible wall to turn off".. and then as Chop mentions, turn off that in the model.
That's exactly what I do when I have some invisible walls that I want to show.

Eric, what you did to that dormer is what I did to the other dormer. Didn't have time to fix the dormer you worked on.
