I am wondering whats going on here I have two dimensions that should be the same but they seem different. The walls are exterior 6 with siding 6 15/16" and the interior walls are interior 4 4 1/2".I was using the measurement from the outside siding to the interior drywall and then i measured the inside drywall to drywall and it shows a different dimension than the other room. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks

Try opening the wall type and remove the house wrap layer. See if that does better. Before you try that though, try measuring the thickness of each one of those exterior walls and see if they are the same. Be sure you're using the default dimension rounding of 1/16". If they are 1/16" off, then deleting the house wrap layer of the wall type and it will probably fix it.

This is/was an anomaly that would happen once in a blue moon. I was told that they fixed this problem but I help one person last year that had this problem. It almost never happens but it can. I have that layer deleted in my profile plan so I never see this problem. Just a thought.

The quick and easy way which may give you what you want is to select one of the walls that form the box and designate it a No Room definition wall.

Then drag the bottoms of the box walls up in a 3D view.

I was thinking this too but waiting to see if anyone would suggest this. You'll probably need to reposition the windows and do some workarounds for the bottom and possibly ceiling.

I would recommend you go to your General Wal Defaults and change your Resize About Layer.  This is an oft underutilized toggle that you should probably make yourself familiar with.  It will allow you to trace your linework without having to move the walls afterward at all.

Best answer. This is how I was taught to do it.

  4. If you have dimensions you don't want to show but don't necessarily want to delete, as an option, you could create a new layer named "dimensions off" or something and place those dimensions you don't want to see on that layer. Turn off that layer. Just a thought.

I prefer to utilize the automatic build as much as possible

"automatic build as much as possible". Yes, it has been mentioned many times that an auto built roof is a good starting place, then manually fix as needed. You're talking about a very short time to manually fix it. Auto roofs don't always do what you want as you're finding out.

Thanks Mark.  I didn't realize you could even specify hardware from the face config.  That's handy.  I'm running into another problem where the hardware is not resting on the recessed panel inside the drawer.  Any workarounds for this?

No they don't and I don't think they ever did. I remember talking about this many years ago in the previous forum.

Specify the hardware for the offending door in the face configuration.

It's not your door symbol it's the hardware symbol causing the problem. When you get around to your own custom hardware be sure to test out the symbol origins, in particular on appliance handles.

    You are right. Custom handle.
