It's probably less headache and faster to just re-download bonus and user I exported by right clicking in the library window to a file, then import in X8. I recently learned to keep the on a drive so I don't have to keep doing it, but I'm not sure if that can be updated easy or how often updates are available.

I searched the X8 core library for "people" nothing came up? Glenn, I downloaded your zip to a folder and extracted it, loaded the .plan into 8, then pulled it up in 8. When I went to a 3D view I got an error that a number of files like faces, etc, were missing to re-link but I could not find the files? See the pic is this how these people should look? Some to the left are real dark? They are geometric shapes that I can then load to my library one by one?......Oh, the wheel chair, walker, are 2D only?

Just want to let you know Scott, thank you for making it so easy to put solar panels on roofs. For others that may not know what to do with Scott's file, I added them to my X7 library then exported to 8 library and they popped right on my roof, then, I copied them to an array and A-blocked a group. I still don't understand how you did it since I'm new to CA but thanks to folks like yourself I did not have to spend the day researching and being side tracked.

Cool Larry happens to best of us oldie but goodie guys I don't know the difference between 7 and 8 so I'll ask here. In 8 why are my ceiling planes not following my tray hole in ceiling I made using a converted polyline? I'm watching a vid that shows a hole in ceiling my shows a very small one. Next it says to add crown molding by converting another poly that did not solve my ceiling planes not following the hole?

Larry, are you saying you can not see my signature with my set-up? I can on my screen. If not please let me know. That worked, both open. Odd that only 8 has small drop downs on my main monitor. I'll call tech Monday. I just completed a fully furnished home that looks awesome in 8 is working fine. I took a chance. The 3D mouse I went to advanced speed setting and messed around, and rotating around a camera point. I'm faster with the normal mouse. My model is very loaded and tends to keep spinning a bit but its working good for all I have in it. Anyone have tips on how to make a big packed model faster?

Thank you for the help. Slowing down the mouse helps to learn. I cannot open 7 with 8 installed even if I reboot and run as admin it won't open and says there is another program running and running two is not recommended, there are no programs running in the task bar when I get the error? Odd since all was fine yesterday. I have no other 7 license active either. My drop down scaling is checked I only get small ones when I have more monitors installed and it does not happen on the other monitors just the labtop below in my sig I have as main in W10. Is there a W10 display setting I need to change? My chrome drop downs are fine so it's CA.

Would it not be a good idea to put a temporary sticky up so it is easy to find all X8 discussions and not have to create alot of scattered threads and post? At least until the major bugs are worked out? I tried searching "X8" and it will not allow it. 1. Is there something wrong with these pics? My drop down icons are very small. I do not have that issue in X7. 2. I was successful at importing my core and user catalogs, how do I import bonus? 3. Anyone figure out a way to slow down 3D connect mouse, man that thing is touchy and takes some practice but I like how taking a camera does no break-up and it's nice to be able to walk through a camera.

Ok thanks Lew. When I opened a X7 plan file in 8 I was prompted to download all core catalogs which it did however how do I get my bonus and user over? I see a coupe options in Library "convert legacy" & "import library" should I run this?

RU referring to X8? I just installed and they are super small unlike X7? Strange thing is only drop down icons are super small others are fine?

Sounds like some have issues others don't. I have X8 installed on my new LT below but I don't see X7 download available in my digital locker?... I have it installed on an old LT about ready for the recycle bin Once 8 is released is 7 no longer available for download or am I blind as a bat?

Ok may be worth a try. When I download 8 it will populate my C-Drive where 7 is in a different folder? I keep my work on an external drive in case the computer goes belly up. I take it I need to download all my library files like all Catalogs again, user stays with any plan if i remember right. I got no idea I called CA last week looking for instructions on what I have to do to run both on the same PC or best practices since this will be a first for me? I can't afford to loose work right now.

Lew, did you run a beta version and released simultaneously before? Seems risky until the bugs are worked out?....looks like admin rights are causing some issues and one program won't fully close so the other can be launched. I don't get that since I have 7 on one and 8 beta on the other and I can run both licenses at the same time so it's not a license admin issue I don't think but what do I know.

Attached is a simple plan. For some reason I can get the casing on the exterior door to be a dark beech wood and the interior snow white but, the interior door won't let me change the casing to a dark beech wood grain on the exterior only. I want snow white on one side and dark beech trim and door on the other side? Door Materials.plan

Whats the difference between the two?

When I take a floor camera my upper walls and ceilings are not displaying correctly even with layer set all on? When I go up a floor I can see the walls that are missing on FL 1 and I'm guessing that has to do with my upper sill plate areas missing on the ceiling planes as well. How do I fix this camera?

I'm ready to rock!! Now if I just knew how to run CA better I be all set I barely know X7 and I'm signing up to beta test 8, go figure? I want the 3D video tour for a home show coming up in a couple weeks. My Ray Traces needed too will be lighting fast now or should. CA suggested I do all work in 7 then copy over to 8 and when it is stable run 8.

I was working along then tried to send another wall elevation to layout but the only option I get is image, see pic? I must of messed something up somewhere? I even started a new layout template, plan view goes fine to sht 1 but wall or any others as image only? I keep both in the same folder. I appears the dynamic link is broken? How do I see what plan files are linked to layout and visa-versa?

Or Newbies ...I been reading alot of threads and watching videos trying to learn this. 1. Kirk suggest deleting everything in the model below as a first step I did not find in any videos...what is fast way to do this assuming he means everything outside the camera view and do ppl agree this is worth the time or only matter if you have alot of surrounding items or a large model? 2. How does one determine the number of faces in a image before running raytrace?
