..... I was just wondering if Chief Tutor or Chief Expert Academy are worth it? If yes which is better and why?
Thank.
Chief Tutor is awesome! CA videos are great too. CEA I have not used by Dan gets great reviews.
My mantra was if I could pick up one golden nugget, the time spent was worth it.

I use a separate layer set for sending elevations to the layout, with windows and roofs and walls line-weights set larger than any plan view. This gives it more pop. You can also adjust the actual material line weights as needed
Yep, this is what I do, I do not do what Chopsaw does. Chopsaw's method is not a detailed as Perry's method.
Perry can make the windows line weight 18, doors 25, roof 86, patterns 15........ Chopsaw method limits doors, widows, roofs to a single line weight.
But whatever works to bring the checks in is all good. Either method will work.

Or you could add a complete break, pull the stairs ends apart by how long you want the landing and then click in between them.
Ain't that a pistol? Draw stairs, 3 to break, right click on one section and hit the disconnect button, then drag apart for the blank space that you can now drop a landing into.
Nce!

Nice job Steve. I have a few other projects like this I am having issues with and I will let you know if the pour group fixes it.
This tip should help a bunch of us mono-slabbers
BTW, the back slab is existing and is 7" higher.

In a situation like this, I wouldn't "abut" crawl space to mono slab, I would do slab on grade matching existing floor.
The crawl space is existing. The slab is new.
I am not sure what you are suggesting.
Very common occurrence out here.

Thanks guys, you are the best. Steve you are correct. Existing condition so I cannot move stem wall to make it work.
Rene kind of hit on the reason, the location of the center of conc. stem wall relative to wall at level above (center of stem wall must be just outside of the upstairs wall width).
The easy fix is to use a conc. stem wall that is just wider than the wall above (3.5 * 2 = 7"min)
Steve, the added stem wall idea was interesting however when I tried it, I would not get the sill plate for the joists to auto build. In your vid you had the sill plate but I have a feeling you did not have auto build framing on so it was left over. Would you mind double checking that? Please rebuild the framing and see if you get the sill plate to return.
Thanks again guys, such a great forum.

I just know this is going to be a very dumb question, but where is the box to check winders?
It must be there but I don't see it. Could it possibly be on a page other than the page that lets me define the winder contraction?
I am ready for a vacation . Lucky for me, I have one coming up.
boy do I feel dumb today.
Thanks Eric for the assistance.

Mick, if you wouldn't mind giving it a shot and posting the plan I would appreciate it.
I have tried the room method and changing the size of the stringers. It shouldn't be this hard.

flared angled stairs..... didn't they follow the walls at one time?
so I want the stairs to be 6' wide at bottom and 4' wide at the second floor.
I thought at one time I could put the walls in at an angle, and the stairs would expand to the walls. (winders?)'
Is there a way to define the shape of the stairs using walls?

The New Mono Slab to Existing Raised Floor challenge:
... so yesterday CA had an online foundation build workshop. I posed a problem that I have, it was suggested I send in the plan. I have sent it in, but the issue has not been solved...... for my particular circumstance. Let's just say nobody has fixed my plan to show me what I might be doing wrong.
This morning Larry Hawes suggested I post it on the forum to see if any of you smart guys can come up with a solution. I thought.... "what a great idea, I should of thought of that". So here it is.
The challenge is to make my BBBB wahl 7a slab to raised floor puzzle 1 look like my bbbb my own slab to stem wall 2 plan......... WHERE THE NEW MONO SLAB MEETS THE EXISTING RAISED FLOOR ASSEMBLY.
I have included both plans plus colored pictures with directives.
HERE IS LINK TO PROBLEM PLAN

I got a new computer and had the garage door wizard on my old computer and haven't installed it yet, now I can't find it, but still looking. With that I could make any standard door anyone might need. hope I find it.
The garage door wizard was wonderful. I had it too but I seemed to have lost it.
I paid for it a long long time ago. I would be willing to pay for it again if I could find it.

Garage Doors, does anybody have the door below they can share?
Has anybody put together a good garage door collection they can share.
At one time I had a decent one but during the great email theft of December 7th, 2021, I do not have them anymore. (boy, what a mess that has been)
DO NOT EVER LET ANYBODY GET CONTROL OF YOUR EMAIL..... YOUR LIFE WILL BE ^*(&T%*(TT*.

Yes, it's because the roof structure depth is equal to or greater than the heel height (the difference between top of plate and baseline). In my original example, my roof structure thickness was 3.5".
aha..... thanks for the insight..... not good behavior .....

Robert, this has never been a problem ..... until recently.
I too have noticed that the ceiling plane draws about 2.5 inches lower than it should. I should report this bad behavior.... to sure if it started with X13
I agree with you Michael, I too draw the ceiling planes on interior face and not the exterior face.
hmmmm....
I just tried this with OOB..... OOB drew correctly whether I drew ceiling plane on inside of wall or on outside.... this is new to me... it appears to behave correctly with an OOB plan.

Good vid Steve.
I have a question, suppose you did not have a second pour group, how would that change the model?
