My comment was less about polylines and more about label capabilities.  Being able to place the label on a different layer, the ability to justify text, and the ability to add a border are the main things.  This allows for different formatting for different objects, allows for turning some labels off and leaving other labels on, and allows for more refined looking labels in general.  Yes we could use text boxes before but that is astronomically more time consuming than simply using the object’s label.

I absolutely agree.  A great feature.

Make one interior door that is correct. Add it to your library. Select all the others and use the Replace from Library tool.

    Clever idea.

Thanks Dermot for the response.....  I wonder if there is a downside to being able to select a door after placed in plan. and then changing from interior to exterior.

All of my doors have some special stuff linked to them by the Alaskan Son,  so I never put in a new door from CA,  they are all copied from an older plan.  I must of got a bit sloppy and not  realized there is a difference betters the two programs.

Hey Scott, it looks like the IMAC are using an M1 chip and Chief clearly states in that link above that the M1 chip is not supported. :(

Yeah,  I am hoping CA fixes this sooner than later.....  at least by the time the M2 chips come out with a larger monitor.

The 22" IMAC monitor with the M1 chip was probably not going to cut it for me anyway.  Hard to go from a 27" screen to a 22" screen.'

I put my money on CA fixing this thing.

    What's this?  https://www.apple.com/imac-24/

    Will it run Chief?

It should run chief, apparently the processor , an M1 chip is super fast in lieu of intel I9,   the downsides that I can see:

    - it is a 22" monitor instead of a 27"

    - the machine is limited to 16gb of UNIFIED MEMORY (whatever that is) compared to 128gb memory.  I am not sure what this all means

And I'm on Mac and rarely have an issue

I also use two monitors, have the pallettes detached, and move windows between monitors all the time.... the things that people are guessing causes this

It just happened to me an hour ago.  First time in weeks if not months.  I had so reset toolbars in prefs and all is well.

Not sure what I did but I am sure you are correct,  it was probably something I did.

  6. I think someone once said it was due to the Mac computer and then throw in dual monitors .....  I gave up on tool bars years ago so I  rely on hot keys .

As far as I can tell, no one has ever asked for this.  If you would like the program to work differently, then you should probably submit a feature request and include any plan files and pictures that show exactly what you would like the program to do.  Please remember that discussing these things on the Q&A forum is not the same as actually submitting a feature request.

I have now submitted this as a suggestion.

If an builder couldn't build that based on that view then they shouldn't be building houses.  That's why elevation views are important as well.  However, we do fill the first floor planes as a solid similar to what was shown in an earlier post to differentiate what floor plate the roofs start on.

It is the plans reviewer who will question the extra lines....  you will not believe some of the comments I get from plans reviewer.

    Construction Documents 101.

We get hidden lines at countertops, stair nosing, and stair stringers, we should get them for overlapping roof planes, and half walls hidden by overlapping countertops.

NICE CALL!  Yeah,  why can't we have hidden roof lines?

  10. I don't like the solid fill idea because it will hide the walls below.

For a 2 story I show a roof plan from the 2nd level,  the first level roof are showing via ref set..... and then.....  I HATE TO USE CAD LINES BUT I HAVE TO USE DASHED WHITE CAD lines over the lower roofs that are hidden by the upper roof.

I would complain more about it but I am the only one here and I don't want to hear it.

Scott,  I thought it was the "Top Edge Lines"  that we could not control ?

It seems that the "Opening Header Lines" are on a layer and can be controlled.   That must be what you are using but would like the "Top Edge Lines" to have the same level of control ?

Thanks Chop,  you are kind of correct.  2 problem with that:

1-   It cannot be controlled on a door by door basis

    2.   the opening header lines is for the header,  I want it to highlight the arch opening including the drywall,  not the arch opening framing

so...  we still need control of the TOP EDGE LINES......  thank you very much
