Thanks for sending that in. I have requested it before. I also talked to the Chief Muckety Mucks at the UGM about this.... specifically Brian.
The more folks that request it the sooner it happens.
BTW, the UGM was awesome this year, the CA team was awesome, and I learned a lot. It was probably the best UGM I have attended..... maybe because I learned a lot.
They said they had 144 folks attending which apparently is a record.
I hope to return next year.

As of x14, it appears that the "Use Line for Framing" default is floor specific, but not view-specific.
Compare 1st & 2nd floor of the Framing, Roof Plan View:
Thanks for bringing this up again. I think it would be wonderful if it was VIEW SPECIFIC.
Example:
in floor plan I would like to show ridge beams as double dash line and
in framing plan I would like to show the ridge beam as single dashed line.

X8?
when did x8 come out?
i started with 10 in 2005…. I think……. Perry, when did we start and what did we start with? Wasn’t it 10 in 2005?
jeesh…. Has it been that long?

From what I know there are three methods to figure areas.
1. The CA way: In my opinion the CA way is not good because it is very difficult to cross check the areas...... and very time consuming to define which rooms are what type of rooms..... and then how do you do total areas for FAR, COVERAGE, etc? I just don't get it.
2. The Joe Carrick way.... I do not fully understand it, but Perry likes it and so does Joe.... I guess it works.
3. The Alaskan Son way. Very easy to double check/verify that the areas are correct. His method works great for me..... he charged me, I paid his fee, well worth the money.

Warning to those who change their display scale factor: Be prepared to redo every rich text box in every file that you open. It'll also affect rich text used in CAD blocks.
I don't know what the problem is with Chief and the size of rich text or standard text. This has to end at some point.
New versions seem to be released with this little gift for their customers...different sized text boxes and text that won't hold it's size regardless of display scale factor.
There's no way I'm the only one who has to adjust existing text from previous plans or cad blocks now that I'm using X14. What does everyone else do?
The long and short of it is...pick your poison!
yeah.... I know what you are saying.... I just fix it and move on. Very frustrating.

that's very generous of you ...only mildly? and I have the 1/16th issue as well , along with the text boxes losing one border unless zoomed in.
I am not sure if this is related to an older plan brought forward perhaps or something else...... the blurriness is like the "Performance View" workaround in Layout for Live Cameras, has now been applied to ALL cameras .... and Update while Idle seems to have no effect not that it should be needed Running a 3080/3080Ti.
* I thought it maybe related to running windows at 125% , but the blurriness is the same at 100%.
*** I see the Chief Team are here again , a downvote for this post ...wow ...
M.
I see the missing text block lines occasionally and sometimes the last letter will go to the next line like the old days (not good).... I say this to confirm your observations.... I am too busy to look into the issue, my bad

Even though garages don't typically have floor joists ......
Hi Larry, I think you misunderstood what I was saying.
I was referring to the floor joists over the garage supporting the 2nd floor.

The OP was asking how to change O.C. spacing for floor framing. Seems much easier and more flexible to change that data in the floor structure of the room. No bearing lines or bearing walls needed. Just sayin'
hmmmm, what would you do if you had an extra long span over the garage and needed to change the floor joists from 16" oc to 12" oc?

Glenn would you use bearing lines/bearing walls versus 'rooms'? Rooms seem much more flexible with more joist choices/materials etc.?
I use bearing lines/bearing walls.

Where do you see this?
Hi Rene, I don’t see it but after I signed up for the advanced I level, Carrie from CA emailed me and offered to switch me to advanced II level.
I said “sure, sounds great”.
and then I started thinking about it and I have a funny feeling the class for me will be held down in the dank dark bowels of CA headquarters.
will you join me down there?

Yep, been out there for 4 or 5 UGM's and every single trip it was beautiful.... I am glad you guys do not put this on in the winter. Aug/Sept is the perfect time to visit.
I just heard you added an ADVANCE LEVEL II, I am looking forward to the classes.
See you guys in September.

Hey Guys (and Gals)
Why is floor blocking shown as double line and beams and joists are shown as single line (single line framing selected).... is this normal?
I had never noticed this.
If double line display is selected, all framing members shown as double line, if single line is selected all framing shown as single line except joist blocking which is still shown as double line.
Any comments? BTW, I think I like this.... I think

2) simply grab that segment of foundation wall in 3D and drag it up to snap into place at the correct elevation.
I thought if you did this you would lose the auto sill Plate.

Something I have always believed in. Walkout basements on level 1 and the foundation on level zero. If you do not need to use level zero, no problem, you can still get your model finished using all levels except for level zero.
Joey advocates for the walk out basement on level zero, it seems to work for him, but that being said, nobody has given me a reason why putting walkout basement on level 1 does not work.

Maybe your section view is displaying 2 floors that that are 4" different in floor height. The auto fill might be showing both floor slabs combined. Just a guess though.
Never mind, I opened back up and all is well. You may have been correct...... thanks

That does not explain why the other sections that go thru the same slab are 4" thick.
I will send it to headquarters.

I have seen this happen IF I don't close the Layout and and reopen it.
It seems Chief doesn't see the the Save As Plan as a new plan until after the Save As Plan and Layout are closed,
on Re-opening the Layout it will Reference the Original Plan again.
M.
Yep, I always try to remember to close layout and then reopened to make sure it STICKS!
I started getting lazy not closing the layout, shortly after that the dirty words were thrown towards CA.
Always close layout and reopen to make sure it sticks. I do not believe that has changed in X14

The "pour group" is only relative to the material list. The material list will segregate the materials for each "group". It doesn't change the outcome of the foundation construction. I probably should have mentioned that in the video...oops!
Thank Steve, however, remember when we were talking about the slab to raised foundation model.... you did discover that there may be an advantage to calling out a second pour...... but now I forgot how that work..... that also tied into the width of the stem wall which "The Rabbit" pointed out.
I did not mean to muddle the thread..... to circle back the advantage to calling out a second pour was for the materials list
