  1. I am working with a fellow Chiefer, every time when we load this project model we get a warning message "3 objects are unreasonably large, we recommend that you delete them".. and it gives you the option to delete, and we do.  But the next time we load we get the same message.. been getting it for about a week now.  How can I find out what the 3 items are so I can manually delete instead of using the message delete option?

  2. One of the biggest things going on in the panhandle of FL. (or so it seems) is multiple colors, types of sidings on each level.. all separated with a band.  Kinda breaks it up some too, instead of one long and tall wall.

Attached was a owners inspiration at the beginning of a project.. but once we got deeper with design, the multi colored look, broke up the blah.

beating my head against the wall

I am sure there is a setting or something.. but I have had houses that had multiple dormers and one might do this also.. pull the hair out.  I usually, after messing with it for a bit, jut fill with a poly solid, paint and move on.  Make it is own layer so you can turn off on the floor plan in layout view (like WALL FILL).   when it comes to the elevations, I just delete the lines using "edit Layout Lines"...  if someone knows how to fix.. I'm all ears.

  4. Happy 4th of July Chiefer's.  Hope you all had a safe and enjoyable holiday.  Now the that the fireworks are done, time to get back to work.  :-)

I know how to do dormers and have the roof cut walls at the bottom.  But in this case, I have a dormer, but the ceiling is a different plane than the roof, so I need to cut the wall at the ceiling plane.  Anyone knows how to do this without filling gaps will polys?

    Thanks in advance.

    I’m not commenting either.

    Thanks for the laugh..

Move your section line to the inside of the structure to see what those dims are grabbing.  Change accordingly, then move your section line back out.

Keep in mind that Chief would like an interior and an exterior layer.

I never had "the honor" of doing thick walls before X12, so I really don't know how they functioned.  I just assumed creating a wall type the way it will be built as Robert mentioned was the way to go, and it seems to work, even when intersecting other "standard" wall thicknesses.  No problem on getting the room defs either.

  7. One tail tell sign that a release is soon coming, is that the catalogs all start giving a X13 load option.  I have yet seen any catalog offer this.  Now that at least there is a date, will the catalogs start being updated?

I think it looks pretty bad

Guess what Rob, he agrees.  He doesn't like the fill after all.  Just the solid hatch for walls, and white (no fill) for each room.  Now that is easy.

BTW I did make a SVP for this and layer set.

    filled poly line

I did the filled polyline.  I tried the room fill, but that's not a layer I can turn off, so as not to mess with the plan set.

My first attempt.  Not liking the white closet shelving, but maybe that will be ok.

Whatcha guys think of my first attempt?  Maybe another stream of income, huh?

  10. I got a request from a builder wondering of we can do MLS floor plans?  I've done many plans for this guy and we reproduced the same plan for multiple builds, now he wants to market as his competitors do.  He sent me an example of how he wants these to look (compliments of Lennar Homes).  Trying to think the best way to go about this with Chiefs layer sets.  You guys/gals do any of these and have some tips you could share?

  11. Scratched my head on this for a bit.. so going to bed to refresh.  Anyways I'd thought I throw this out there.  I've done this same plan a couple of times for a builder, and my door way to the courtyard/entry has always had a full size wrought iron gate.. but all along he has been building with a half gate.  Just found this out, since we are not local to one another, actually found it out via Google Earth.

Here is my question.  How do I put a gate that is ~5' tall in a door opening that is 8' tall?  I thought a "symbol"..  but that just brings it at the full size of the doorway.

I am doing another set for him for another build.. I want to show it correctly.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. In regards to seeing the floor plan in relation to the terrain, do as Eric suggest, or turn on your "Wall Normal" layer (or " Wall foundation") and lock it.  This way you can move, rotated your terrain easily.  Can even dimension off the walls.  I do this when I am positioning a house on a tight lot.
