Hi. No, I've never tried using muntins before, so I don't think that was me.

Anyone familiar with custom muntins? I created a custom muntin for a window no problem. Now I am trying to create a custom muntin for a shower door and I can't make it happen. I am trying to do it with a glass shower door. I have also tried with a regular door that I fill with glass. I am able to create the CAD block of muntin lines but then there is no "add muntin" command like there is when I do this for a regular window. Does anyone know when a custom muntin will NOT work? Hello! I am trying to draw this (vaulted?) ceiling with a portion of it at standard height. I am not sure what to do in regard to ceiling planes and holes. Any suggestions? Thanks. The peak of the ceiling is 15' and one side wall is 8'6 and the other 8'9 and the other somewhere in between. This area over the closet is 8' high. Thank you!

Trying to add custom materials to parts of the interior of a sloped ceiling. The interior is simply the inside of the roof line. I can't seem to add floor material or custom backsplash to this roof interior. I want to paint part of it, and also to add custom panels and molding. Do I need to add a wall in front of the sloped roof?

Hi everyone. Hoping you can lend some advice. I have trouble creating tiles. For example, I want to create 12x24 tiles in Carrera marble. But I can't create one properly proportioned tile, in that specific material, and have it lay out seamlessly on the the floor. If I choose the material marble, it will paint the whole floor in one piece. If I choose a tile grid, the proportions are set, like 10x10. And when do I play around with height/length/thickness vs. scale? Thanks.

When I was downloading from 3DW I got this error . And I;ve never experienced this before. Then I go to CA and File>Import and see that it has in fact downloaded, despite the warning that it wouldn't, but when I import it I get this message in CA . And when I place the object in my plan, it is missing material/texture. I tried several other 3d models of cook ranges to make sure it was not just the one. And I had the same issue. But I did not have the issue when testing it out with a piece of furniture. Could this problem be with metals? I don't see why it would. But that's the only logic I can see. Thoughts? thanks

Hi. I have always been able to import 3d models until now. I found the cooking range I need on 3D Warehouse and got the error that I have no app associated with the file. I can't seem to change any app association with CA, and don't know why it would suddenly even ask me to. It still downloads but when I go to import as a symbol as I normally would, there are materials missing from it. Suggestions?

Thanks. But placing door frames as fixtures means I have double the frame when I want it to look more like a grid.

I am trying to add shaker style wall panels to a room and there seems to only be a raised panel option. Shaker style door fronts have to be applied to a cabinet. What am I missing?

Has anyone studied for, and passed the exam to become CAD Pro Certified? I am struggling to know exactly WHAT to study. Seems like I learn something new everyday, which makes me wonder what I don't know, and need to know for the exam. Thanks for any guidance you can provide!!

My client (the designer) needs to show his client what it will look like. So he wanted to get as realistic a visual as possible.

One thing I am not sure of, and that is the pattern repeat in the tile file attached to this thread. The client (another interior designer) is creating this floor for his client.......So I am not intimately involved. If it's all being done by hand, tile by tile, the repeat can be whatever we want. The file attached in this thread has the tile in a sheet, with the accent already laid within. I do know the hex tiles are 2". But it looks like the repeat in the file you sent, will cause the accent flower to be cut off in certain places.

Hi and thank you. Yes the flower detail needs to be in there, with a pattern repeat that resembles the hack marks on the drawing. I ended up creating the flower detail with the polyline tool and then had to place them carefully. See attached. I still think there must be a better way.

I am stumped! I have this tile floor I need to display. I had to do so many workarounds to create the border and the tiles themselves. Now I am being asked to add a pattern onto the tile. I have spent a lot of time creating work-arounds and feel like I am chasing my tail. I took the tile and patterns and created a material. But I ended up piecing it together for the right spacing and it looks awful. Any ideas? Attached are layouts and materials. Thanks! Bathroomtile.zip

As both the designer and the person who does the renderings, I am happy to look at a plan and see what your designer is seeing. I may have feedback for you in terms of a designer's expectations, as well as how to possibly render the images differently from a tech point of view.

A few things I would like clarity on, if anyone has any thoughts. I was preparing a tiled floor and the client showed me the individual 2" hex tile with the smaller square accent tile and the border 1x2 tile. The only way I could reproduce the hex/accent layout was to choose the 12x12 tiles that have this layout on it. Given the size of the floor, this 12x12 tile would have produced a 3" hex tile. So I manually counted and measured and reduced the tile to 8x8. This was perfect. But I was unable to change the grout color, as it treats the entire square tile, not all the smaller tiles within. We wanted to end up with a grid of all white so we could decide where to have darker accents. It was hard to see. Also, when I tried to render it as a tech drawing, the tiles only show up as the 8x8. Some of the tile choices are actual physical materials, and some are surface colors/patterns. Kind of confusing. Also, when the option to stretch-to-fit isn't right, I uncheck and resize, but it's not clear if the stretch option was too big or too small, until I try a bunch of things. I also had to add floor materials for the border in two different ways so the tiles were going in the right direction. Thoughts? Thank you!
