  1. Thank you for taking the time to do this! I ended up creating the extra surface on the plate by making a polyline solid and converting to a spline. It then became the round shape I needed. Then created a copy of the new round polyline, sized it smaller, and created a hole in this copy. This copy, is now completely a hole. I placed it on top of the larger round polyline and then both on top of the plate. 3 components. Not very efficient but it worked, and I will now try your method. Thank you so much!
  2. How do I cut a section out of it? I tried doing it with the polyline but it made no sense to me.
  3. This is what I have been trying to do, adding a thin layer around the plate. but I can't edit the polyline , the part I want to make into a "donut" to sit on the rim, to become a circle. And the solid shaped poly cylinder can't have a hole cut out of it to become the donut.
  4. I am trying to take these materials, and add them onto a portion of an object. For example, I want to decorate the rim of a plate with a design but leave the rest of the plate plain. I have tried playing around with polylines and material regions and custom backsplashes, but none are really doing the right thing. Any thoughts on that? Thank you.
  5. That's exactly what I did, thank you. I was just hoping I could somehow do it in bulk.
  6. Does anyone know if there is a way to import a large number of materials all at once? I have almost 100 fabric images I want to import, in jpg format, and can't seem to do more than one at a time. Thanks!
  7. I am trying to create a template plan, just realizing it even exists, and the defaults I set, still don't stick.
  8. Having trouble figuring out layer sets and defaults. I want to have my camera view always on PBR but when I think I've set it as the default, it goes back to standard view the next time around. I want to always have the sun setting at a certain angle, and other specifics for the camera view. But none of the settings stay. Also want to always have lights at certain heights off the floor and at certain lumens. Can anyone walk me thru the basic steps? Thanks.
  9. Thanks again everyone for your help. I've learned a lot! Here is another attempt, but still having issues with final pictures. But some parts looks great. Here is a PBR and a RT and plan file. If you can take a look and give me feedback on what's wrong. The flooring should be light and in the RT it comes out dark, as does the desk. Also, when I create a material (for the rug or the upholstery on the wood side chair) I cannot blend texture and color, else the whole thing takes on just one color. I must be importing materials incorrectly or applying them wrong. I design fabric, so it's important for me to be able to apply them. Do I need to import the same fabric in different sizes to accommodate different size rugs, in order to keep the proportions right? Thank you! Rug_Shopping_TT_594_light.plan
  10. What are your sunlight settings?
  11. Do you bother much with resolution quality when you RT? In order to save rendering time, I usually RT at a smaller size, not active window size. And I have played around with low to high resolution. Thoughts on that?
  12. I'm curious how was the couch using a fireplace image?
  13. Wow, you have all contributed so much to my knowledge about all this! Thank you so much!
  14. I looked at all that. I am not able to add bump maps.
  15. How do I add bump map to floor? That is one of my original questions....that I don't know how to get or use bump maps.
  16. Oh of course! I was confusing 3d plan lights and can lights. Thanks.
  17. What do you mean turn down bump maps? Where/how do I adjust them up or down?
  18. Ok here it is. Hope I did it right. ca_plan_zip.zip
  19. Here is PBR, lights adjusted to 100 and cans off. Why does it look like this?
  20. I don't back up my own files. I have a service do that. If I try and do what you've suggested, it zips up way too many files, not just this the one associated with this plan.
  21. Thank you everyone, for your very generous assistance!!!
  22. The Kitchen Abode: I have tweaked the plan a little. But here it is for you to look at. Example_with_decor.plan
  23. Yes light cans in the room with the red sofa. I don't normally build a roof and foundation when I am just doing the interior. Should I? The floor material def dialogue box doesn't allow me to change the roughness. What is PBR? Thank you!!
  24. Here is my latest RT. See the specs on the red sofa? Lighting is odd. Floor has no texture.
