This is interesting. Thanks for the tip! As I grow with the application I am finding that success with Chief requires learning its nuances. There are just certain ways to go about certain things.... Not many ways to do that same thing. Dimensioning is a great example! Thanks again, this is super helpful.

This would be a great suggestion. Even if there are different colors for the different types of views for quick visibility.... Its easy to get confused when you have a lot open. Post in the "Suggestion" forum.

Works in X16. Thanks

I have noticed that the roof fascia and shadow boards do not line up at the top. Is there a setting somewhere to line them up? Thanks

Is there any way to turn off the "+"'s created by some dimensions? I know it's an indicator showing what is being dimensioned to. In tight spots it can get kinda cluttered. See attached. Thanks

I will give it a shot. Thank you.

That was it. I tried everything to fix it. For some reason I wasn't clicking on it correctly because the "handles" to move the marker were not showing. Thank you very much.

Working on some elevation dimensions and I have one that is fouling the one beneath it. See attached. How can I move that line up and out of the way? I have seen that somewhere, but have no idea how to accomplish it. Thanks

Adjust your gable sub fascia from 5 1/2" to 11 7/8" . That might have something to do with it.

Thanks. That's what I will do.

Oooh. I like the library idea. I need to learn how to do that.

Any idea what's going on here at the corner where the brick is missing? Plan is attached. Thanks PaulJohnson.plan.zip

I will try that. I did find where the wall types can be exported and then imported to the other drawing. Thanks

How can custom wall types be moved from on drawing to another? I have a couple custom wall types that I made that I want to use in another drawing. Thanks Shane

Thanks for the response. That's why I had been doing. I didn't know if there might be a simpler way to add a line break such that you didn't have to use spaces.

The layout title field is where I include the drawings included on the page or layout. It's only one line. How can I add line breaks so I can enter the information as a list rather than it just pushing to the next line because of the width of the drawn field? Thanks Shane

PERFECT! That was super easy! Thanks bro.

How do you adjust the size of the roof pitch labels on the roof plan? I figured out how to make the elevation roof labels larger, but I can't find where to adjust the label size for the roof plan. Thanks
-
That did it. Thank you.

I will check that. Thanks. Shane

Hello All Anyone know how to remove the (") mark from the pitch in the %pitch% macro? I am using that to label my roofs and while it's not terrible, I would like to remove the reference to any units. Thanks Shane

PaulJohnson.plan.zip Here you go. I decide to post anyway. I still have cleanup work to do. Thanks

Rene... There is no need to post.... I fixed it. Your YouTube video on roofs helped me get it sorted out. Thanks! Shane

Rookie here.... Working on a home with a simple but difficult roof in chief.... It seems that all is required to confuse chiefs roof generator is some varying heights, varying pitches, and shed roofs. If you allow the wall to direct the pitch, the overhang gets less or more depending on whether it's steeper or lower than the primary pitch. Because of the changes in overhangs when the pitch changes, you need to "break" the roof and adjust the planes manually. The downside of that is the trim transitions at the edges with different pitches don't line up or clean up nicely despite the height of the shadow board being the same in each plane. I know that more complex roofs have been drawn than what I am drawing right now, But I can't figure out what combination of settings or roof tools will yield the result I am looking for. I refuse to compromise the design style of the home because chief can't generate the roof. Is there a way to allow chief to generate the roof on part of the home while allowing you to add roof planes for the porch sheds? Is there a tool that will allow you to draw the roof with lines and then generate the planes? Is there a way to clean up the transitions when using just roof planes? I thought I had learned enough to build to the roof on the house I am referring to, but so far working on roof is taking longer than the plan itself. Any guidance anyone can give would be appreciated. I plan to take another shot at the roof on this house in the morning. If don't have any luck I will attach the file so everyone can have a look. Thanks

This was going to be my next move because I like things a certain way.
