  1. you aren't missing anything. It's a finicky scenario. I would see what support has to say. Post your plan. You will need to zip it up first.
  2. Also you can add a vertical piece of wall at the end of the half wall using the diamond on that end of the wall when selected. I know that sounds like a bandaid but it does work.
  3. Try changing the wall type back to "Room Divider".
  4. Apparently, that's just the way the program functions. ESC cycles through recent command modes AND cancels certain things like closing dialog boxes and such. Weird how it seems that the painting command is the one it's stuck at.
  5. Yeah... I got that... but somehow the painter tool continues to persist when I tap the esc key even though I have moved on from that tool 30 minutes ago.
  6. All Just discovered the layer painter tool and it's really cool. However, how do I get it to turn off after I used it?..... Seems to continue defaulting to painting objects after everything I do. Thanks
  7. This is good to know. Thanks. Thanks for the information.
  8. Is there a way to change a door designation from interior to exterior in the door dbx? I have door exiting the home onto a porch that is going in as an interior door making it to where I can't control the casing on both sides.
  9. I did this today and it's the best way I have found to accomplish this detail. Thanks.
  10. I would contact support and see how they recommend handling a scenario like this. It's not uncommon. I have done similar things on the interior and it's always challenging. it seems the invisible wall is causing the issue. ima gonna look at this again.
  11. I don't have X17 so I could not open the file. BUT Check out this video.... I struggled at first, but I got it... think you will get the idea. It is somewhat tricky. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/r764rcxvgywbg6kat43ku/Screen-Recording-2025-08-20-at-2.51.45-PM.mov?rlkey=susk4inqd8ce9ykdkk384vmxo&dl=0
  12. @winterddI had to do this too. The included material names are way too specific for the work that I do. Glad you got this figure out.
  13. When I do that I don't have to add an appliance. I simply change the bottom door to a single drawer, then click on "Specify" in the Appliance/Door/Drawer section and under Drawer Handle / Vertical position set the pull/handle 2" from the top.
  14. Gene You gotta go a little deeper in the menu. - Click on Appliance/Door/Drawer "Specify" - Then you will see the setting you want under "Door Handle" Shane
  15. I see that now. I have X16 so I can't open anyway. ugg. Shane
  16. It should have your siding above the roof on the outside and drywall below on the inside. Unless I am missing something. Maybe if you posted your plan I could have a look.
  17. When you open up the DBX for those walls what is the pony wall set to? Something might be out of sorts there. Another thing I would do is move the wall perpendicular to the roof to see if the wall behavior changes. The wall is acting on some directive you just gotta figure out what.
  18. Probably a good thing that it was moved. I have clicked it accidentally before.
  19. Thanks @robdyckfor the idea to look at the old drawing and dig into this further. I just went in and I know the cause, but I don't know why. When I cut the wall to make the fireplace bump out the space was temporarily not a room. When that happened the walls flipped around. Knowing this will help me in the future. While it doesn't make sense at least I know what the cause was.
  20. I do need some Chief expert friends for sure. I have done pretty well on my own so far. things like this seem like a glitch in the software. Like why do things like this happen arbitrarily? if its not arbitrary then I would like to know what the cause is so I can be aware of it.
  21. 27-250007A8-11-2025.plan.zipHere it is before.
  22. Here is the file that has the foundation walls flipped. it looks like somehow it was caused by adding the extension for the fireplace which wasn't there before. 27-250007A8-12-25B.plan.zip
  23. If they have ESRI ArcGIS Pro, you can open the file (.shp or shape file) that you are referring to and export to a cad file or maybe even gpx file that can then be imported into Chief. EDIT: I looked and you can export .gpx from ArcGIS Pro. See here... https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/tool-reference/conversion/features-to-gpx.htm Shane

    Gaps in

I wonder why that is an issue in the first place..... Might be a good thing to bring up to support to see what they have to say about it. Im not a fan of having #D solids all over the place.... I know sometimes they are necessary because of a special shape, but when it's fundamental stuff there should be a solution and not a work-around.
