This is driving me crazy. Everything about the other gables are the same as this gable, and yet the wall is not going as high as the other gables.

The problem wall is in the attic.
Yes!! I should have looked closer. Thank you Eric!

I made a CAD detail for now - I need to get this done - I will try to figure it out later

all the vents act the same way

It's what Eric said. You have a wall in the attic preventing the placement. Simply change that wall to invisible temporarily, place the window, and then change the wall back.
I made the main floor wall invisible, but the vent still will not allow me to move it center, not even with holding the Ctrl key down. I think Chopsaw has a point - I also noted that the symbol looks messed up.

I'll try that. These are just Chiefs vents

I have been moving along nicely in Chief, but today on the last vent I wanted to place before I begin to detail the plan, I am stuck trying to place the last vent. It will not let me for the life of me place the vent into the gable and into the center. I tried to find bumping or even make the symbol of a different type, and the last resort will be to make it cad lines - which I would like to think I do not need to as all the other vents placed just fine.

Code42 scanning / backup takes a lot of resources I do not believe it matters how powerful your CPU is. When It does the full scan you will fill it.
I agree. I set it to not run during my work hours, but then run after and all through the night until morning.

So I have my new computer set up and my libraries, hotkeys, toolbars, etc. all transferred over. So far things are running along fine and smoothly. I also added two top monitors to my system so I could use both large monitors for Chief. I love it!
I will upload my computer details and my signature soon. My son, who built the computer said he would buy my graphics card once the newer cards come out that should help with rendering. Thank you again for everyone who offered advice and direction on the computer details. -

@SNestor was right..didn't need to recess, but wanted to mention it in case it was easiest and 100% accuracy wasn't necessary. His stacked molding was what I would do. basically how I would built it in the field.
I will mess with it as I want to learn how to do everything. Thank you guys!

Thank you Steve! That was very helpful! I did add a thickness at one point, but it just got really thick on the outside, so I must need to mess with some of the options to get that to work. But I like the options you are also showing here.

I really do not need to show a 3D of the ceiling so I think I am fine. Thank you to everyone for jumping on this. I now know several ways to address this.

I kind of figured it out. When I add a divide wall between the great room and the kitchen, I can select the great room only. Nice. Then I add the tray ceiling... and while the try is placed where it should be in the great room, the outer line of the tray against the wall, passes through the divide wall and into the kitchen, covering up the skylight. When I add a standard wall between the kitchen and the great room and add the tray, it works perfectly and the skylight hole is there. So something is messed up with the divide wall and the tray ceiling.

I should add that I need the white trim to also go back toward the window as shown.

Thank you Eric! I did not think about letting Chief rebuild. I understand on the details needing to be copied. I will give it a try on a copy of the plan.
