  1. When I download from google drive it has all the files, when I open this link in a browser window it only shows image files. Not sure I ever ran into this before
  2. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PVGfunQYczZBMqTO0MWxEUoJE7PzTIWj/view?usp=sharing Try this... Thank you
  3. Anyone want to take a crack at figuring this out. The roof frieze shows up on some areas and not on others. Both the house and garage. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PVGfunQYczZBMqTO0MWxEUoJE7PzTIWj/view?usp=drive_link 2024-10-31-2.pdf
  4. I know I am just missing something here, but I cannot get my floor joist to work correctly... (Main floor joist only) https://drive.google.com/file/d/15oo_bUoky8M0g9pcEkPhLKXRbb2SjiC-/view?usp=sharing Any ideas? Thank you
  5. Hi Levina, By the time you read this you probably have figured some things out. Any libraries I offer can be downloaded and dragged into your CA to load them into your library. Then just rename them to what you want. Highly recommend that as you build up your library that you back them up. Typically one by one to a folder so you can always put it back if something goes wrong. As you make changes to the libraries, back them up again. Typically you cannot back up the whole User Library, so back them up as individual folders with their respective subfolders. Your system seems fine for power to do nice renderings. Laptops are often slower than desktops. I spent a lot of time fine tuning my camera, so make sure to download my template and copy the exterior camera to your template. Then fine tune the camera if you need for your graphics card and update your template with it so you are always fine tuning your template with what works and looks the best. Now that we are in X16, I am focusing more on using the HDRi backdrops. But as you can see above, my image backgrounds work and look great too. You will get a more realistic rendering with HDRi backdrops. But it depends on what you are looking for. I do not use the 2D trees for shadows. The 3D trees just make a more realistic shadow. Follow my steps in the beginning of this thread for changing some settings, like on Glass. Also on concrete, I often change the properties so I get a little reflection. Also mess with your grass. I have grass in my template that matches the backgrounds, but I have since made my grass 2 and 4 for height because I use terrain features to cut out the grass. Position the placement of the house first as it represents the house the best. Then mess with the sun for the best looking shadows. Then place your trees to make sure they are covering the yard and onto the house a bit. I typically do not show the trees in the image, only the shadows. When CA makes some realistic looking trees I will start to put them into the foreground. Thank you, Steve
  6. I think this has some potential. This is a mess but it could be useful for rendering. I am trying to figure out how to convert a .can file type into .HDRi Check this out if you are looking for some backgrounds for daily use camera...
  7. Someone was asking about post and beam millwork in Q and A, so I thought I would share my Library of millwork details I use. Most of these blocks and symbols are made with moldings so the grain runs true. Blocks can be exploded to manipulate the details. Some of these are CA's Millwork, they are just in my Folder. Millwork.calibz There are some tricks to setting the moldings up so they can be mirrored, so watch some of the videos in the threads below. For more about how to use molding for beams...
  8. I was working through questions on beams and posts - check this out if you want the wood grain to be correct, which will not be the case when you join everything. Here is a library of beams, brackets, etc. I have put together for proper grain. Both Blocks (to explode and manipulate), and Symbols Millwork.calibz
  9. I made this spreadsheet to help me calculate my footing sizes. I am not an engineer, but now I can make my footings more to the size they should be and if an engineer should be required to verify them. I mainly use it for my foundation footers, but also for decks and exterior rooms that are supported by posts and footings. Maybe there is an engineer out there to verify that I have my calculations correct. The blue fields are where you enter your square foot area totals. The Defaults can be changed as they are there for my area. The results at the bottom are for both Square and Cylinder Footings. The thickness is set to 1/3 the size of the square footing. In many cases for residential, footings seldom need to be thicker than 8". Spreadsheet... Roof and Floor Footing Load and Size.xlsx I'm also including my Footings library... Footings.calibz Thank you, Steve
  10. I'll keep using Chief, love so much of what it can do. But like many things once something seems to work they move on to the next seldom to come back. With hardware there are always updates and you need to test so many different hardware and software combinations that I believe that VR is the last thing I would I would put my time into.
  11. I've benefited greatly already from Michael's talent and services. I just signed up and am looking forward to what he has to offer. I know users are using a number of macros to automate their processes, and Michael has already automated things for me that I could think of, but I know there is more that can be done to help my work flow.
  12. I use the brick in Chief mainly for simple jobs, but for remodeling, I take a picture of the clients brick wall and put it into Pix Plant 5 and create my own materials. That is the best way to show off your model to a client - who has brick. https://www.pixplant.com/
  13. Very nice, Rene! What caught my eye are the two piles of mulch in the landscaping. Is that something you are selling? I'm not doing much with rendering at the moment, but I am always looking at 3D objects. For that matter, it is hard to drive down the road without looing at the trees and wonder if they are 3D objects, or what in them look fake - LOL
  14. Thank you, Steve! I have drawn houses with a lower basement before. My template is just not set up for that. Maybe it is time to setup another template for that situation.
  15. Thank you, Steve. The walls I'm having a problem with are the front larger doors (see highlight). I have a foundation plan that is set to lower walls only... I do not seem it have problems with the doors you show. Maybe something moved on the plan when you opened it. For now to keep going I just put in boxes with the hatch...
  16. The plan https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CrkQEwwnFoM1riHy4oJ7NfIGZ4eEPF1C/view?usp=sharing
  17. I think it was just a fluke. A computer gremlin.
  18. I tried that and nothing changed. Thank you
  19. Does anyone know a way to stop the door opening from cutting out the foundation below. I have my door flush to the top of the foundation floor and wall, but it still cuts out the opening. I have raised my door but that does not work. Thank you, Steve
  20. I followed your lead and just made a new wall, starting with the foundation wall first, and then added the 8" brick wall, then turned it into a railing wall. That might be the fix. The first time I made the wall, I made an 8" brick wall, turned it into a railing wall, then added the foundation wall as a pony. I did download your drawing and it all looks right.
  21. I will download and check it out. I did a lot of messing with that wall, so making it over sounds like it will solve it. Thank you again!
  22. Maybe you have another setting I am missing. Once again, the exterior is fine and looking and working as expected, but the middle and interior want to go down.
