  1. I thought of that Lew, but the menu doesn't present that as an option when in a slider type window.
  2. I have never had to adjust the sash bars in a slider (Craftsman style) before but the client wants a 1/3 split on the horizontal bars in a slider. How do I move the single sash bar up?
  3. Thank you Robert. I missed setting the ICF to outside layer....Let's chalk this up to client induced stress...I should have noted that since it is in my wall checklist for ICF.....
  4. I'm trying to align the outside of the ICF foundation wall (outside Insul) with the framing member of the pony wall (2x6). I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out as I'm in a time crunch. Anyone let me in on how to do this please.
  5. I concur with David. I never look at this software as "easy" to use, it has issues that need time to learn. The result is really up to the individual and how much time they want to put into it. Best place to learn about these methods is here and in the how library at main Chief site. Best of luck.
  6. That appears to be the only way of doing it Gene, but why should we have to do this when a "Reduced Gable End Soffit" is common. There should be a way for the software guys to make this happen. The sooner the better as far as I'm concerned.
  7. Around these parts we call them "Jerk-in-head"... They were common in the late 80s around here. I think I saw one going on a house 2 or 3 years ago but haven't really caught on again.
  8. Gave it a try and I'm not happy with any of the results. So I guess I'll just clean it up in ACAD. I usually export my CA to CAD and place everything on a sheet there. I'm not a huge fan of the CA CAD tools and I'm pretty particular about my end results. Anyway, thanks for posting your fixes guys for this but I really think CA should be the one's to action this. This is a pretty common detail on houses all over the world.
  9. I have a client that wants his soffits pulled back to the gable line and the gable (barge) overhang to extend out 24". Gable overhang isn't the issue, it's the soffit. How do I pull it back even with the walls?
  10. Joe, I've designed here in Canada, Thailand, and Germany and can honestly say closets have never had to be in a bedroom. In all cases I always, at the very least, provided space for cabinets. Currently, there are no requirements under the codes here in BC for a closet to be in a room for it to be used as a bedroom, just standard window/door egress requirements. In Europe, I never included a closet. I did however make sure there was a spot for a client to place a large cabinet on a wall. IKEA was the biggest supplier of these units. For me, it's all about the need for egress, not the need for storage. But I'm willing to be wrong on this.
  11. Thanks guys, two good suggestions.
  12. Does anyone know of an easier way to put in hidden gutters than to build solid poly objects around the gutter?
  13. It took a little bit of time to get it fixed up, but most of it was my fault because the damn phone wouldn't stop ringing today....So Kirk in the email pool won my problem and did a great job giving me directions on how to fix the issue. To fix this here's what you can do: - Close Chief Architect. - Press 'Windows Key+R' on your keyboard. - In the 'Run' dialog type %ProgramData% and click 'OK'. - Open the folder named 'Chief Architect Premier X6'. - Delete the folder named 'Core Libraries'. - Open the folder named 'Referenced Files'. - Delete the following files from the 'Referenced Files' folder: -- CoreCatalogFiles.zip -- CorePlantFiles.zip - Close this window and Open Chief Architect Premier X6. - Open New Plan and click 'Library> Install Core Content'. This will display a progress bar along the bottom of your Library Browser, let it finish. Problem resolved! Like all software, sometimes bugs pop up. When they do I find it's normally Norton's anti-virus messing with the program and causing bugs. I know my ACAD hates it so I can only assume CA has issues as well.
  14. So I deleted one of the files and now all my library files are corrupted. Hmmm...Tech support, here I come! LOL In case you missed the subtle message here...don't just delete the file!
  15. Thanks Ken, I've learned to ask before doing something that seems so straight forward. In the Air Force we had a saying. Best to ask a stupid question than give a eulogy.
  16. Last Friday I updated the library and everything went fine, although it took a lot longer than usual. Then I hurriedly shutdown the laptop and rushed away to a meeting that took up the rest of the day. On Monday I opened up CA and went about a job. When I opened up the library I was met with a bit of a surprise. I had two of everything in it. Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, do I just delete one of the files or what?
  17. Thank you keno! I knew it was buried somewhere...Age and lack of use fogged up the mind! I thought it worked in Ray Trace as well...oh well, this will do in the short term for prelims.
  18. Perry, didn't CA give us a board and batten wall texture that also worked in RT without resorting to polyline solids? I could swear they did one....
  19. Quick, someone please point me in the direction of the board and batten in the library before I turn into a real grump old man...My staff (of one) also says please!!!! I've used it once before and wrote down where I found it but that was quite some time ago...about three office cleanings ago!
  20. Can't do it. I tried it myself. Polylines and a great deal of work in section view with CAD lines.
  21. I'm about to do a full design using the software. Up till now I've done all my cross sections in ACAD and never used the elevation callouts. I've noticed that the callouts don't reset if you delete the callout and the next callout comes up in sequence even if the previous callout elevation is deleted. Is there a way to reset them so when I do start doing sections that the callouts are in sequence in layout?
  22. ....Duh!....Long days make for foolish moments...for the life of me I looked all over the data base for this answer.......Thanks Lew.
  23. My client wants me to add a new floor below an existing floor. Can this be done? House sits on a hill side and client decided that he wants to push it forward on the lot and add a floor below on the hill side. Anyone know where a video is on doing this sort of thing? Cheers, Rich
