  1. Thank you Jay, it really is a lovely town. If you ever need a kitchen for one of your clients, let me know!
  2. I never knew of the 'cabinet mounted' section so I put that in the search bar and lo and behold, the outlet I usually use on islands pops right up in the menu - easier way to get to it, thanks! It's called "Duplex (horizontal)" and you can place it anywhere: it doesn't need to be attached to a wall. FYI there's another similar one called "Duplex (horiz)" that does NOT work on islands.
  3. Or, as has happened to me, the plan is only half-baked, so may still be a bit disorganized, mostly incomplete and maybe not so pretty. That tends to be when most issues rear their ugly heads and I can somewhat understand being a bit shy to share it with the world. I had an issue once very early in my Chief career where 2 walls completely disappeared in 3D views and no matter what I did I couldn't seem to get them back, even though I could see them in plan view. Turns out my ceiling height had somehow gotten changed to 2" (no idea how!); it took an experienced person about 10 seconds to discover this once they got the actual plan and looked through the DBXs. This is a prime example of why it's valuable to share the complete plan as opposed to a screen shot. PS - if someone likes my work enough to want to copy it in whole or in part, I'm more likely to be flattered.
  4. Actually, your second idea, when I fooled around with it, was even easier. I used the peninsula wall cabinet, changed to glass doors, in the sides/back section of the DBX I checked "match front" and voila! Glass on front and back, looks just how I want it to in raytrace. Workaround extraordinaire. Thank you SO much
  5. ...creating from scratch or modifying an existing wall cabinet to have no back? I am designing a project where I would like to place wall cabinets in front of windows so the light will shine all the way through from behind (the cabinets would have glass doors on the front, of course). What I simply need is a backless cabinet, remainder of cabinet to have standard attributes. Any ideas on how to go about doing that? I need it to show correctly in a raytrace and can't figure out a quick and easy workaround! TIA
  6. I have the Brother machine as well and it's performed admirably for me. Mine is 3-4 years old so it's an MFC6490 but they still have comparable models. I like it for all the same reasons as Alan - good on ink, simple interface, trouble-free, 2 paper trays so I can keep 11x17 in one and letter size in the other...it's also my fax and scanner so it keeps my desk more streamlined. Perfect for the small office.
  7. You can also hit the tab key to select/scroll through items if you accidentally get the wrong one the first time.
  8. Me too, in a heartbeat! See, to me you're a youngster...it's all in the perspective (and cross section, and elevation, etc.) LOL
  9. Why not download the free 30-day Premier test version and play with that to see if it suits you? You can't save or print but you can take the entire program for a test drive - LINK.
  10. See, there you go - you have to be able to correctly spell 'silhouettes' or you're getting nowhere Another library issue I have run across is items that have different names/terms in different parts of the country (and presumably, the world) so you're endlessly guessing what search term to use...it can be a little frustrating. I once wasted an inordinate amount of time looking for a symbol for what I call a 'bulkhead'...finally gave up and ended up making my own.
  11. Not sure if this your issue or not, but when I've had similar happen, I group-select and open the dbx for the callouts and UNcheck 'rotate with plan'. Counter intuitive, but it works.
  12. Is it simply deducting the thickness of the walls?
  13. When you adjust a stock material it only changes within the plan you are working on. The settings and characteristics of the material do not change in the library catalog.
  14. There actually is a double-panel cabinet door in the library - type 'Beaded Recessed Panel DP' into the search bar, you will find one example. They also have a raised panel version. If you want it divided vertically, go to the 'Rectangular', then 'Framed' folder under the Cabinets Doors, Drawers & Panels heading, there are several configurations. The only downside is that the divider is always centered.
  15. PS - I see I am a 'HOT' topic this afternoon - I'm an old broad now so I'll take whatever compliments I can get
  16. OK guys - after it became obvious that the universe is working against me today (multiple messed up elevations, file won't zip) I went back and deleted all the cameras that represented the bizarre elevations. Started off with new cameras, and (whew) the dotted lines were no longer there. I really had to get.it.done. so I did a workaround, so to speak. Really had no choice - 4:45 meeting looms! It apparently had something to do with the particular camera(s), the camera settings, or...? I haven't had this happen before and I've been on Chief since early X3. You are so right that the world always seems to conspire against you when there's a deadline. If only it worked the other way around too!
  17. Argh! I did close before I zipped! BRB
  18. Here we go....good luck! The issues seem to primarily lie with elevations B1, B2, H, and W. The kitchen seems fine! No idea WTH is going on - it was fine yesterday! This is the plan I was talking about a few months back, the plan was drawn in V9 and I imported it from the builder (I'm in X6), so the perimeter etc. is all drawn by someone else, I am only doing the interior 'fittings'. I hope the problem is not because it's a hybrid! MessedUpElevationsPlan.zip
  19. OK - even weirder, I tried deleting a wall cabinet and putting in a 'fresh' new one - it ALSO shows up as dashed!
  20. Sadly, that does not seem to be the case. Still searching for a remedy.
