  1. I have an 8 year old Dell Alienware desktop that I used then passed it on to one of my designers. Just loaded X-14 and it says the video card does not meet minimum requirements. Attached is a screenshot of the video card specs. X-12 and 13 runs fine. Does X-14 require a much newer video card?
  2. In the past I have added more lites to a window and made the mutin width 3". It gives the illusion of a recessed shutter but not exact. See attached
  3. This is an option in the window dbx so its not a separate symbol that can be opened to adjust the XYZ. I could drop in a shutter symbol and place each one but was trying to not have to do it manually
  4. I always go into the toolbar setting and make a copy of the tool bar you have set up the way you like it because I have had this same issue. If it happens again and you loose the toolbar all you have to do is go in and switch to your back up. I always keep a few back ups. If you switch to a back up then delete the toolbar that got messed up then make a new copy of the good one. See attached and you see I have two back ups
  5. I did a full system update from Dell, BIOS and Im sure all the drivers. Seemed to fix the issue. Thanks to all.
  6. Is there a way to control how the shutter lay on the window. Default shows the shutter to be floating off the face of the window a few inches and i want to move then in to remove the gap or in some cases the shutters are recessed inside the window opening. Is there an option or a way to have the shutter lay flat on the wall or be recessed? Thanks
  7. Thanks. New laptop 2 months old Dell Alienware all driver up to date. Ill call support tomorrow
  8. I just started an as built and all was going well until I did a camera view. I got a error message (see attached) and it shut down. It has done this every time. A few times I shot a camera view and I did not get the error until I tried to pan the camera view. Any Ideas? Ive attached the plan (X-13) and screen shot of the error and the file path it showed in the error detail. Thanks Washington House Remodel 11-20-2022.zip
  9. I have an old plan I did years ago for a client that decided they are ready to move forward. Since then I have updated my layers, dimension, annotation and active view sets. I was able to import layers sets but cannot figure out to import the others. OR.... Maybe Im doing this wrong.....what's the best way to get an old plan into my current plan template? Thanks
  10. It would be nice those of us that charge by the hour and can be used for billing purposes
  11. And if you do this linking within your library can that then be copied to a laptop or another PC
  12. Can someone explain step by step for how this linking works
  13. Thanks. It was the first plan I opened in X13. X-12 was not like that
  14. Im sure its something simple. Base cabinets in elevation have a different line style. Walls are fine
  15. I have 4 in house designers and three remote designers out of state. We use Microsoft SharePoint (Basically the bad boy commercial version of One Drive). Everything is saved to the cloud and anyone that has access can open, work on and save a plan. But again only one person can be working on a plan at a time. I may have one of my remote designers do the as built, save it then one of my in house designers does the new proposed plans. File naming is key to keep everyone on track. Note, the folder name is different from the plan name. We name plans as follows The main folder name would be "Smith Kitchen". Inside that folder are other folders with the plans in them each renamed with the date and design version. If I started a new plan today the folder name within the Smith Kitchen folder would be 220413 - DSN AB (Todays date - Design Version is the AS BUILT) Lets say tomorrow someone (the same person that did the AB or a different designer) is going to start the new proposed design they would just copy and paste that AB folder and rename it to 220414 - DSN A1. If they come in the next morning to continue to work on this same plan they make a copy of the previous days folder and rename it to 220415 - DSN A1. If they do some "minor" plan changes for example painted versus stained cabinets or just flipping the frig and ovens then they copy the folder again, rename it to 220415 - DSN A2, A3, A4 and so on. If the homeowner wants to see a minor facelift and a full gut then that "major" plan change would be named 220413 - DSN B1, B2, B3..... When we do have these different layout options, saving a thumbnail of the plan is important so not to have to open each plan to see what is what. Having the date format like this and being first in the file path is key to keep everything in chronological order. The other benefit to this is you are making a copy of your previous work in case of a lost plan. For large projects, the main folder does get large with copy after copy. If you have unlimited cloud storage, not a big deal but you could go in and keep the last several days of plans and delete all the previous. The other thing is how you name the actual plan. We only have 2 plans associated with any layout. The as built and the new proposed. We would name these two plans, "Smith Kitchen - AB and Smith Kitchen - NEW. So any folder after the as built is done would always have a copy of the AB and the NEW so when its time to start the layout you're only pulling from these two final plans. The very last folder would be named 220418 - FINAL. Sounds like a lot but when we all got the procedure down we have not had any issues for the past two years. I have attached a few screenshots of what this looks like.
  16. Has anyone tried to organize their library catalogs into group categories? For example, it would be nice to organize them into groups such as I would like to have all countertop materials in a folder and then the bonus or mfg. materials would remain in their individual sub folders. I would like to have groups such as ... Cabinetry & Millwork, Cabinet Accessories, Plumbing, Tile & Flooring, Countertops, Paints, Appliances, Doors & Windows and so on. I know I can create a new folder in the user library for each of these categories then copy and paste the mfg. or bonus libraries into those new folders however, that does make your library even larger. Since I've been using CA since version 8.0 (Not X-8) I personally work from my user library that I've accumulated over the years. I would say 50% user, 30% mfg., 20% bonus. I know you cant copy and paste from the core library so that would not be a big deal. There are libraries both mfg. and bonus based on the name I wouldn't really know what it contains unless I open it and look. Example, Brosco, Invisia, Bonus Fixtures #2,3....Hardware #1,2,3.... and the 27 bonus lighting libraries. Over time when I have gone into libraries I've hand-picked items I may use over and over and copy them into my user library. Just wondering if anyone else does something different, has tricks or tips.
  17. OK... I know over the years there have been a lot of discussion of being able to have on e single chief user / bonus / mfg lbrary that can be accessible by other users in your office. I currently have my PC, my laptop, 2 designer PCs and a laptop shared between them. We do go back and forth with plans such as one may ask me to look something over for her. However, she might have imported a few new textures which wont show up for me unless it was a full back up. My office of 15 have moved over to SharePoint which is basically more or less the high end business version of One Drive. I would love to have our libraries on SharePoint in the cloud where we can all access at the sometime. If one person imports a new texture or symbol all will have it. Can we point the database folder to a URL versus a location on a local pc?
  18. Thanks. I was looking for an edit button or something. I didnt realize you can just double click on it to rename.
  19. Is there a way to edit (rename) the different components / materials of an imported symbol. From skp / 3D WH or other users. I can assign a material to each component / part but can you change the name of that component. Like the fan I've attached. The component name is 1737467630_12footfan. I would like to name it Big Ass Fan 12'. Then the materials for this is color_255_255_255. can I rename it.... This only has one material but if it did have several of these weird named parts can I rename to Trim, Blades, Down Rod or whatever other parts it may have? Thanks
