This has happened several times, and I can usually get it back with the fill window, or opening closing the program, but now this time. I can still get the 3D view to show up by pulling new cameras or just opening a 3D perspective. I am deactivating and reactivating the license now to see if that helps!
-
Yes, I did that first; but upon opening the new plan, still no floor plan, just 3D.
-
Having to completely redraw the plan after Civil Engineer finally providing plotting info. Long Story I won't go into. While making changes in floor plan view, I selected a wall to open it, and the entire plan suddenly vanished, although when I open the Perspective 3D camera it is still there. I've done fill window, zoom undo zoom when I zoom out I see the camera icon. I follow it and zoom in and out nothing. I checked display options and everything is turned on. What do I need to do to get it back. I did a key word search for similar topics (since I know I've seen it on one of these forums) but nothing came up.

Thanks Eric! Certainly looks good from here. Great news, email from Client last night with a laundry list of changes I have to make. Things like, changing all the windows in the great room lake side, move the fire place at the garage/veranda and add window and arched opening, reconfigure the exterior stairs etc., etc., SO I continue the saga. What you've done to help is MOST appreciated. At least I know it CAN be done!

It definitely took on a life of it's own.

Sound would def help. Looks neat but not what they're expecting. I will attempt a sketch tomorrow what they would like. Thanks k Kevin!

WOW! I guess I was looking too hard. I felt like the foundation was the problem, but all the times I opened the wall DBX's around the space I missed the ext walls! Problem solved!

Now the client has requested stained concrete in the basement. I changed all the affected floors to that (color) in the edit floor finish for each room. However, I still wind up with that triangle that will NOT accept any finish. 1.12.2015David Baker Lake House updated KEEP.zip

I have NOT given up on building the roof. After countless changes from the client, finally think things are NAILED down enough the over-all dimensions will no longer change (but there is ALWAYS Murphy's law). I feel the roof is in much better shape now than when I first posted my request for some help. At least for the most part, there are some ridge caps now produced that weren't there before, which If I understand the tutorials and videos I've read and watched over and over mean SOME progress. I do have a roof edge most likely interfering with a wall. I know I still have an issue with the main roof plan east - west lining up and connecting. Some gable ends WHERE THERE and now parts and pieces are missing. The client came back and added a "circular balcony" and requested the roof also be radius over the balcony rail (I started it, and they said that is what they want) but I haven't had success in getting it modeled correctly) I left some of my last attempt in place, as the ridge line is +/- what they want. I think once you open the plan you will see more than just roof issues, however; I continue to work on finding and fixing what I can. ONE NOTE please, if you wish to help me, I do APPRECIATE it! I know it is UP TO ME to learn the tools and the software and I may have gotten the cart before the horse, at least I AM NOT IGNORANT to that fact already. If you intend to CRITICIZE and offer SARCASM, well; I appreciate "CONSTRUCTIVE" criticism, but I CAN DO WITHOUT the Sarcasm!!!! THANKS for anyone who'd like to take me under your wing and offer suggestions aside from "study the user guide" I do that every free moment I can. Watch the GREAT roof tutorials, I have all the good sites saved to favorites on my Ipad, and almost every waking moment I am not performing all my other responsibilities I watch. D Scott Hall's which are some of the best. I am posting the zipped file which is the very latest. Again, I am tweaking what I can every day. Thank (each of you) in advance!!! 1.12.2015David Baker Lake House updated KEEP.zip

I have an unusual condition on the basement floor. All the rooms seem to have walls enclosing them correctly. I can select each one ok. When looking at a full camera, or perspective floor over view, there appears to be a "triangular" area with no floor finish. I can select either room on either side of the area in question and the floor finish is as original specified. I am unable to select the offending area to determine what it might be. There are no invisible walls here, and nothing was previously drawn in this particular area. Looking at a cross section elevation of one side looking toward that area there appears to be an area with no slab although I am not particularly sure. Any suggestions on how to determine what is happening?

A Little Help With Fixing Walls Under My Stairs
Evolution replied to Evolution's topic in General Q & A
ERIC, I know you aren't being SARCASTIC. You may not be aware of the HOURS I spent trying to find the problem. I deleted the stairs, time and again and redraw PER http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00846/160/Chief-Architect/Stairs/Using-the-Click-Stairs-Tool.html and http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00756/160/Chief-Architect/Stairs/Creating-a-Landing-Between-Two-Sets-of-Stairs.html and http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00757/ FACT IS, I hated asking for help at all on something that should be so simple, FOR FOLKS LIKE YOU; however, I have a dead-line and keep working, and all the rest of the (FREE) time do the KB, the video's etc. I HATE feeling like a FOOL, but IF I KNEW what to do to FIX the stairs FIRST, I would! The issue didn't appear until the client decided they wanted to add the bath under the stair. -
I added a bath under the basement stairs per the tutorial for Creating room under stairs. After adding the walls to enclose the room, I have an issue with part of the walls for some reason protruding through. I have tried adjusting them back but the only way to get rid of them is delete them, and that's def not what I want to do. Suggestions appreciated.

I used the lowered ceiling option, for areas where I need the ceilings lower than the floor to floor height. At the stair from the basement up to the main level, how do I get the ceiling to frame around the stair (in stead of showing the air space). I drew a invisible wall around the stairs but that didn't work. Do I need to use a soffit?
-
I will give that a try!Yanks Eric
-
I meant I did break the landing.
-
I did break the stairs. I actually did winders to start with and they looked good but the decided they wanted to add a bath under the stair.
-
I started in the basement drawing stairs up to a landing that I built. I set the top of the landing to be above a bath room under the stair. I drew the landing "L" shaped to get it out over the bath room so it can have a flat ceiling at 8'. I continued building the stairs from the landing up. On the main floor I created an open to below room for the stair (created by using the straight rail tool). What I wind up with is per the attached. The landing is on the basement floor as is the second section of stairs. May be it is because I didn't build the room under the stair according to the Knowledge base for room under stair?

Working from home, and using my work lap top. Anyone on the forum ever try casting your CA plan file with Chromecast? I wanted to see If I could, but haven't found an FAQ or help on Chromecast that offers any solution. There may not be one? Thanks, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

The video on "Dual Roof Gable Design"...... I am trying to learn everything I can about the manual roof tool(s). I might do better if I mute the sound and just watch over and over (as time-little of it) permits.

The video's are GREAT but for someone with hearing impairment in both ears the MUSIC IS a distraction and makes it ALL but impossible for me to understand what he is saying. (but that's my ONLY complaint)!

So my searches in the KB indicated that if I put a wall break in where I want to change the wall finish it wouldn't be a problem. Add BTW I did not use the paint tools, I opened the DBX of the wall to have a different texture (thin stone over 1/2" DW), but as you can see for some reason other walls also got the stone. I did make sure the wall breaks are where they need to be, but just in case tried moving/deleting and reinserting the WB's, no change. I thought I was doing it per the KB?
-
oh yeah, I remember seeing that on home talk I think.
-
That looks more like what I have been trying to draw manually! Thanks
-
I haven't learned that tool yet. I will def put that on my things to remember list!

I noticed some other things that may or may not be a problem. Here is one. Notice the horizontal blue line and how the walls along it are not aligned. Eric those walls were lined up! I used a cad line to line them up. I don't know what happened?
