  1. Stopped in for a minute to see if I had been down loading the correct files? Why cant I open my drop box, I have a folder already created for CA X11 files for migrate, select each of these files up load them, then, go to drop box from my DK, select down load, search for X11 documents and down load them to libraries? Except for one thing, I don't see library anywhere on there?
  2. Eric, Work is a surface pro. Home is a Dell Desk TOp. I do use drop box, and thought I had uploaded the libraries there, but when I opened my DK go to drop box (I even sent my self a link) up loaded User library content??? from my Tablet to Drop box, then used the link to DB from my Desk top, once loaded to DK, I opened my plan I've been working on, pulled some full camera views, no textures showed up, and none of the "user content I had created" for this job was in my library. The only Libraries present were core content!. Don't have time to pursue it further now, maybe later and I'll try saving it to a thumb drive if I have enough storage space, then I can insert it in the usb on my DK and go from there hopefully> I told you, nothing works for me the way it seems to work (may even intended to work) for you and the other xperts!?!?!
  3. Thanks Eric. I had looked at this one too. It didn't work the first time I tried it. I'm reading it all over again wish there was a do it this way video but I got to get the lazy dial turned off and maybe then I can concentrate on each step? ( I said I'm not tech savvy so when software (which is so much smarter than me) starts asking questions (especially when they are multiple choice), I always seem to check the wrong answer!
  4. I thought I understood how to migrate my Libraries (core, user, bonus catalogues, and manf catalogues to my home DK). I have so much day time interruptions at work (bids, emails, subs calling on projects MY REAL JOB), that the other work (design build ) for my company is falling behind so at least at home I could work two or three hours without them), but after following all the instructions (at least I thought I had) down loading X11 from my digital locker, the waiting almost an hour for the libraries to complete loading, I started to set up the DK and found that only my core catalogues loaded. I deleted X11 from the DK and did it again, same thing. I read some threads (especially one that Rene had responded to) and it sounds like I need to copy the files to an external drive from my working machine, then load them onto my desk top. No more simpler way...…………….correct? I like simple but computers have been know to break down when I'm around so "TECH-SAVVY" I'm not
  5. Thanks Rene. I'll check that out
  6. About to add some hardware but to be as portable as I can. Thought of I-pad pro large screen w/BT pencil. I know it doesn't have usb ports so having dual screen using an add on monitor is out (or is it?). I currently use a Surface Pro 4i7 (I love it and can take it to the field) and use the mini hdmi to connect to a 39" monitor to have dual screen. Blue tooth key pad and mouse. I've never thought of using the IP Pro with the pencil (and love using a mouse for my work).
  7. Could you use railing walls, or perhaps fence?
  8. You have found the Chief Architect forum. Home Designer have their own site specific to HD products. Of course checking this forum will help with many of the questions you may have. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/ You might try selecting the wall, then hit the tab key and tab through the items until the sink opens. Of course, you should be able to hit undo. (PS: check your layer display to make sure you don't have interior fixtures layers locked.)
  9. Rob, you mind sharing how you modified the code (how you edited the macro?) I'm definitely a long way off from understanding macros and how to customize them, so for now I do most of my schedules manually (since I'm really not doing a lot of work right now).
  10. Macros maybe? I'm not good with them, but seems to me (from what I understand by others posting) you can either make a custom macro or perhaps modify the particular one that has to do with schedules? I don't need to do it, and haven't so I don't know if that's it?
  11. Thanks to all who helped guide me back to reality! The widows have been "found" and were not abducted by an alien force! I did in fact (although I promise I have no idea how I managed to) duplicate certain windows in certain places. I did as Steve suggested (again) and this time found them (with the all on layer)! Then, I did as Glenn Woodward suggested, and found the offending perpetrators and deleted them. Then, as Eric suggested copied and pasted windows from floor 2 down to the missing window locations on floor 1, except for one belligerent window, to which I resolved as Eric suggested, and pulled the wall back and reconnected, then placed the window. MAY THE CA FORCE BE with ME!!!! (and each of YOU). Thanks everyone!!!!
  12. I need to go to that layer and delete duplicate windows...got it, still have no idea where they came from?!?!
  13. I apologize Joe. I guess I didn’t check all my layers? Steve, I did do the all on layer. Not sure why I didn’t see all the windows were back. I guess I was confused that only certain windows were missing. Glenn glad you popped in on this one! I set the schedule layer up late in the day so I’m not sure how I wound up with Windows there? So I need to go to the Schedule layer and turn windows off, correct? Thanks everyone ,
  14. I know, that's why I checked the plan view as well as the camera view, and not only that but checked the new layers I had set up, checked the windows for the layer, and they're on the window layers. Isn't that the layer they should be on? I also made sure the Windows layer was checked in every layer set I have. I can select the openings that are missing the windows, and open the DBX and it shows the window is there, but it isn't showing in the 3D. But now one of the windows came back in the full camera view.
  15. Already did that Joe. The first thing I looked for, if you look at the screen shot at the bottom its the layer display option.
  16. Learn something new everyday!! Hadn't thought about doing it that way.
  17. What a tiring and frustrating day. I can't believe this!!! I Opened. My non Profit project plan to work on setting up layers / annosets for construction drawings, all was going so nicely, then suddenly I started have windows disappear. I mean the multi-lite windows I had placed on both floors 1 and 2. I thought I had somehow turned them off on my CD floor plan layer, and perhaps my Arch Site Plan Layer, but after checking both, the windows are turned on! It was obvious, because some of the windows show up on the plan, (no problem) but not in the 3-D perspective. Yet the openings are there , but there are no windows (randomly disappeared) in openings. I checked my camera view layer, and made sure windows are turned on also. Orphanos Foundation Renovations option 1.zip
  18. The Client wants me to convert the current exterior of his project, from it's "Federal" style, to a more "French Country" esthetic. I'm limited though, to doing as much without major exterior demolition etc. as possible. We are planning the interior reno of the 2nd floor (which I now have very close to his expectation), however aside from adding some "more rustic" features to the exterior (timber framed porch cover) (rustic board and batten in-fill of the old 2nd floor round-top window) reusing the existing extensive (raised) planting beds with more traditional plantings, (acceptable to the humid mid-south climate), I think I need to avoid climbing vines etc.,? I hate what they do to the structure over the years. I don't want to remove the planting beds (cost prohibitive given his limited budget for improvements). I am replacing all the existing windows with new insulated (multi-lite) fixed windows. The old ones (double hung) have reached their useful life anyway, so we know they have to be replaced. Since we needed more space at the top of the stairs where an exiting round top fixed glass window is, I am bumping that wall out, and I guess I could add stone for the exterior in lieu of the rustic board and batten, and may do an alternate elevation to see how it looks? Any ideas you'd like to share?
  19. Thanks Steve. I like learning the software, but you pros make it look so easy and things seem to come automatically for you so I miss a lot because of knowing the "short cuts" if there are any and quick work arounds. I have to discover it I guess the way you guys did, just keep working with the soft ware. Thanks again!!! Love the videos you make too.
  20. Steve, the video you did prior to this one, you did totally different. I couldn't make the auto dormer work this time following this vid. Haven't a clue as to why, but when I go to build roof>build dormer>auto dormer, using the reference lines then click to place the auto dormer. All I get is a gray rectangle. In the lower left hand of the screen it says Auto dormer, but all that shows is the gray rectangle I undo it, then pace it again and same thing. WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON? Why do I keep having these crazy issues happening? I had saved a copy of my latest plan I did (following the other dormer video you did) where the dormer walls weren't running up under the roof. I decided it was going to keep me awake at night until I got something to work. I opened the DBX on the dormer I had saved to this plan before I exploded it, opened it, changed the walls to 48" high (42" wide ) then set the various fascia, eave etc., same as you. Then exploded it, selected the roof, locked the ridge, Set it to curved, changed the pitch from 90 that you suggested (default 89 something) to 60 and bang. I have a dormer, and the walls run up to the soffit, NO GAP:?!?!?!?. In stead of chancing losing the effect by doing each of the remaining 4 one at a time, I shift select and marquee around the exploded dormer (I didn't think it would work) then copied and paste the next one, It pasted perfectly....WOW!. I did them all that way. So now I have dormers. Orphanos Foundation Renovations option 1.zip
  21. Steve, I've spent several hours following your video step by step, literally rewinding to a point and duplicating your moves. But, that being said, I am at a point I can't get past, and that is when I de-construct the dormer, change the roof to a barrel, the roof jumps off the top of the wall and leaves a gap, I've tried several ways to fix, but don't know what I'm doing wrong. Again to that point I don't know what I missed from your dormer video, but it's not working for me. I've posted my updated plan (from a few days ago I had already fixed several of the things you pointed out. Not sure what I missed. Can you take a look at my updated plan. BTW, its hard to tell from the photo of the existing building, but the roof over the dormer (copper roof) does overhang the sides by about 3" (I forgot to fix that in the attached dormer plan) but the barrel eave is flush with the window trim. 22. Steve your video is great. For clarification regarding the "weird" things you picked up on: The wall you mention on 2nd floor that doesn't line up with the recess on floor 1 is on purpose. The Client is converting the second floor as a respite for the Missionaries supported by the Foundation when they are visiting the US. The other half of the 2nd floor is moving the work center to one location with a reception area at the top of the stairs, so for the reception area, he wanted to move that wall out and create more space for receiving guests or other visitors. We will demo the existing wall, open the area under the floor, scabbed 2X heavies to the existing floor joist or I-joist (not sure what we have to work with) and cantilever out with a double (triple?) rim joist we will notch the walls on either side to support the end of the new rim joist. Also, regarding the Dormers, I will save a plan and work on doing them the way you have done. You may have forgotten, but you did a great video to help me figure out how to model the end walls for the "as-built" exterior of the Federal style. Your help is FANTASTIC!!!!
