  1. I'm really intent on learning more about the software, and I do search the help files, user manual, KB and Vid's for all the help I can get before posting on this forum, because I know you all are busy. My issue now is as I am working on the Non Profit Remodel, I haven't finalized the interior reno's yet, as the client is out of the country, and the time lag keeps him from reviewing the updated drawings, given me his feed-back then me making his requested changes. So I'm just now getting to adding the lay-in ceiling (reflected ceiling plan) and doing a lighting plan. I selected a 2X2 While ceiling tile and doing the PBR's for his review, the tile is showing up silver although I selected the white. I tried the PBR with out lighting, then added lighting in both cases the tile are still showing up silver in all views. Or does it look the way it should to you? It doesn't to me. I know I did over kill on the lighting in the big room (I actually plan on reusing the existing LED lighting) in the space and don't have the exact as built on the lighting yet but will correct it later. 2. Thanks Mark! You're a champ....I'll look into this for sure.
  3. Hm? I checked the BT driver yesterday, but (although I'm basically technically illiterate) there wasn't anything I saw that seemed problematic? I'll do a search.
  4. Are you trying to do a "cad detail from view" without actually doing it? If there is a particular detail like that you want (without doing the CDFV), I think you'll have to use your snipping tool (that should be loaded on your system) snip it, then paste it into Paint or similar, then save it as a PNG (or PDF) and then paste it into your plan as an image. The more of these types of images you load into your plan will tend to slow other actions down (3D for example), I believe?
  5. Mark, actually running Windows 10 Pro - 1803, but up until this week I know of no issues I've had. There is a Computer repair service about 3 blocks from here so I think I'll take my tablet and mouse over there and see if he can figure it out for me? I did attempt to roll the mouse driver back but as you can see that option is not available to me. I ran the driver updater but it comes back the driver is up to date.
  6. Yes networked through wifi, however; have been for the last 3 years, and the issue only started this week. I shut the server down, and restarted it the signal strength is strong and that didn't help either. I have another blue tooth mouse on my PC that is about a year old. I seldom use it, but loaded it on this tablet, and nothing changed. I ran the driver updater for the mouse I use all the time and the messages says the driver is up to date. I tried rolling it back but that option is grayed out and I'm not sure why?
  7. One of the first things I checked, Perry. But I tried another Mouse, and nothing changed. The only thing close to the mouse with rechargeable batteries is my tablet CA X11 is loaded on and I use the mouse with. I've also been using it with no problems until this week? I thought it would be straightened out after shutting down yesterday, and not starting back up until this AM? It is causing a lot of slow down trying to draw with it like this. I may just go get a new one today and see if that makes any difference?
  8. Tried playing with the sun angle / adding, adjusting lights? If this is the first time you've had the issue it may not be your video card, but sometimes video cards are the culprit.
  9. Using the same pad I've used forever. Tried others didn't change anything. Shane, installed new batteries, also changed to another BT mouse, same problem. IT's got to be a software (windows 10?) issue, but it isn't showing up on any of those forums?!?!? the 22 oz hammer is sounding like the closest thing to a fix, but right now I have the same issue with the other BT mouses (is that meece or mices) I've tried
  10. Thanks Chop. That's probably why It was working for me. On remodels I usually take photos of existing materials, brick etc. to use and usually save the photos to a file and then add them to my User library. It always worked ok that way.
  11. My blue tooth mouse began going crazy when I'm attempting to draw. I checked for software updates for the mouse the message I keep getting is my drivers are up-to-date. I rebooted a dozen times but the issue persist. I did a google search to see if it was window's 10 related, but I didn't find anything. It just started all of a sudden. If I move my mouse I get a blinking arrow cursor, it transitions from a small arrow to a large arrow as long as the mouse is moving, then once the mouse move stops, the arrow cursor disappears, while it usually stays on. If I just touch the mouse the arrow cursor reappears very briefly. It is driving me crazy trying to draw this way, since I can't tell when I have a grab handle etc to draw or move something. I thought it might be the battery so I tried new batteries and it continues to do the same thing. I thought it might be the mouse so I installed a different Blue Tooth Mouse, but it is still doing the same thing. Any one else have this issue? I'm sure it is not CA related as it happens no matter what software I'm in, even out look email etc. I don't know what else to try to fix it, or what's causing it. The only thing I found when I googled it was some unrelated issues reported in other forums, but the fixes they suggested didn't work for me.
  12. Thanks Robert, but how did you manage to do it? I attempted to open the DBX to see how you set it up. A material or image?
  13. https://orphanos.org/office-board?staff=3320 this is the link to the LOGO. I am completely at a loss as to what I'm doing wrong?
  14. Chop, I know, but there are no options I haven't tried that I can see in the material dbx etc. to fix it.
  15. Continuing to Work on the Orphanos Foundation Non Profit Remodel, and do PBR's for the spaces attempting to show them the reception, work and rest areas. I was attempting to create a new material from their logo photo. Selected it from their web page, did a screen capture, pasted it into paint and resized it then saved it to my materials folder. I placed an easel from the library, opened and resized it selected materials from the object DBX, changing the picture from the default to my material but no matter what I've tried to do the pasted image is barely large enough to see. I've selected stretch to fit and that doesn't work. The image is still too small. I've gone into my user catalogue, found the new material, right clicked and opened the new material reside it to a larger size but after a number of resizings, still not happy with the results. I don't remember it being this hard before X11. Orphanos Foundation Renovations option 1.zip
  16. Thanks everyone! Seems like it takes more effort now than it did? But maybe not, as this was the first time the files actually diverted to X10, even though I had selected X11? I use a Surface Pro 4-I7 with windows 10. I've been bouncing back and forth between it and my Desk top and hadn't updated my signature with that info.
  17. I just realized as I was attempting to down load a few bonus catalogues, even after selecting them for X11 2020, When I select open, they automatically default to X10 instead of X11 (although I selected the X11 file). So checking my X10 all the catalogues I had previously down loaded (for X11 have all defaulted to X10) again, even though I had selected the file for X11. I also noticed there is no option once you start the down load to select the software version to open the files with. The only option I've found that is working is selecting Save, then once the down load is finished open the folder to see where it landed. I don't ever remember having to do that before ?
  18. I know. I couldn't get Steve's direction in the GREAT video he did to work for me like it did for him. And especially the last response he provided with his iteration of the plan - stair using the straight stair tool I can't get the landing to build when I place the 1st floor and 2nd floor straight stair and then click between the two to place the landing ABSOLUTELY nothing happens I am not remodeling the area of the stair so that's not a big deal (except I'd like to know why my approach doesn't work when I think I'm following the directions correctly?). I would just like to show them in the as built mask and final remodel plan of the 2nd floor so the Client doesn't say "where's the stairs" or The code reviewer says, "I need you to reference the stair".
  19. I am in the process of preparing my "As-built" mask for the Non-profit organization's remodel. So far this training video https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/362/showing-an-as-built-mask-on-a-remodel-plan.html and the KB: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02208/showing-the-as-built-in-a-remodel-plan. are the only ones I've found. I was hoping any of you that are experienced with remodels might share any helpful tips to avoid the pit-fall of doing my first one. I've saved my plan file as my as-built remodel mask and since I'm only working on the 2nd floor for now, is there any issue with saving the entire plan (which contain all three floors) and just use the 2nd floor as built as my mask? I will of course open my AB mask and turn off all layers that are not needed and based on what I've watched and read that should work just fine after setting the lines types and weight, colors and drawing order, before creating the Cad detail from view, setting the layer and locking it.
  20. Thanks again Steve. The "U" Shaped stair stops at the 2nd floor level, and the stair to the (attic) 3rd floor is a strait single stair up from the 2nd floor. I attempted to select the U-shape you have drawn (on the third level) there and change it but it want let me. I assume any adjustment to that portion of the stair has to be done below on the 2nd floor?
  21. I updated my plan file and added some notes that indicate the direction of each flight of stairs. It also should clarify why I have the walls drawn as I do. I apologize for not be more clear. I did have the Third floor walls for the stairs down to the second floor drawn incorrectly but double checked and now they're correct. The third floor is actually the attic, where all the mechanicals are and I knew I'd have to make a floor to be able to draw anything on the attic floor (that comes later anyway). The rest of this day is on to Budgets, and bids, so I have to put this down until tomorrow (I hope I can get back on it). Thanks again for all the help. Oh if I could only be the help to others you guy's have been to me!?!?! Orphanos Foundation Renovations.plan
  22. Thanks Eric. You have some good info (I need to file away) that will help me in the future. I've saved your Video as well as Steve's to my favorites!!! for later review.
  23. Steve, as usual, your video is great help however;, looking on the plan of the first floor, when you come through the front door facing the stair, the first flight is on your left going up clock wise, and you hit the landing turn right to the next flight up. The reason the walls are there is because they enclose a third flight of stairs that go up to the attic (which has a closed bottom of drywall sloping to the rise / run of the second flight of stairs), there is no open stair well thus no need for the extra railing you modeled at the second floor landing. In my first attempt to do the "U-shaped" stair, I did every thing exactly as you did, even drew the stairs (as I explained early in this post) outside of the stair well. What I wasn't aware of is what you pointed out (I'm hearing impaired ) so didn't quite understand what you were saying in the video about moving the red dots, but wasn't aware I needed to do that, so that may be what my problem was the entire time. I'll watch this video a couple more times and give it a whirl and see if that fixes my stair. I was wondering, since the stair from the second floor to the attic actually forms the ceiling over the first flight of stairs and is enclosed by the walls I have drawn, if I should go up to the third floor and make the room for the attic stairs and open below room and put those stairs in first then go back down to the first floor and start over? Great job on all the videos you do!
