One of the things Graham does for us with Ray Tracing, is explains his settings so we can achieve the results he does in his postings. This is really what this forum is all about so, it you would similar, we could all benefit.

    Thank you,

    4

Honestly, I'm not convinced of his method. Won't recommend it to new users.

what will you do to the model prior to exporting it to a Collada file?

    Please elaborate.

I'm not question your integrity or Lumion's.  I have repeatedly and always stated that this program can deliver exception results, way beyond the capabilities of Ray Trace.

I only choose that one because it was focused on more than the others. I did not state that the rendering was bad, just attempting to get a handle on what it really takes to get those spectacular results. Your demonstration of those new features is valid, but those one-clickers did not produce a truly photo realistic rendering.

Please try not to interpret my questioning as an attempt to undermine your efforts or qualifications, that is not my intention at all; and try not taking such a strong defensive position and I'm certain you would find the conversation to be far more fruitful and beneficial to all.

Lumion is not even a ray tracer to start with,.

    Jintu,

I, for one, have no doubt you’re a power user and expert. Would it be possible for you to provide a short demo, as you did for me, but with a model of Our chosing? This way people can really see there are not as many steps as one might think to achieve these results.

    Thanks for all you do!

    Sure

Please post the plan. Save the camera view as well.

Wife and I are looking for someone to design and complete our floor plans, framing plans, site plan and other construction documents for the new home we are going to build in early 2018. I have Chief Architect and have a partial file started. I also have the survey dmv file and pics of the location and pics of what we are looking for.

Home will be approximately 7000 sq ft with 3500 on main floor, around 2000 on the second floor and around 1500 in the basement.

Also, we are hoping that the finished file will have a building material list.

They are all good but I'll recommend Bob Shofner, (Basketballman) :)

Really, here's that scene from the Lumion gallery. They don't look anywhere close to me.

    Here you are again.

Didn't you read about the custom effect I mentioned?

Why did you not picked this exterior which is also on their website?

Are you questioning my interigity or Lumion's?

You guys are killing me. I would hope that that there are

programs out there that can produce outstanding results,

but this is a Chief forum. I am all about achieving the best

possible results using Chief software. If you want to go

somewhere else fine but, let's focus on what's possible

    with Chief.

I contributed a lot to the tutorials...Isn't it enough?

Jintu is Lumion 8 worth it?

    Johnny,

it's safe to say that it is.

Lumion almost completely overhauled the Effects interface for ease of use, especially for the new users.

Attached is the introduction to the new Rendering Styles, click a style and you are ready go., no need to adjust anything, this is most beneficial to new users.

Note: Common Style is the old interface.

In the sample scenes below, I used Daytime Style for both Exterior and Interior. What you see in the Teaser is really what you'll get.

The third interior render is Overcast, (sun brightness=0)

  8. Do you know of way to take a photo of the adjacent home(s)

Question: Do you know of way to take a photo of the adjacent home(s) (There is a house on either side of the lot) and incorporate it into the Lumion scene without it looking awkward?

    1

Easily done with still images but not if you are going for a flythrough

You may first try it in chief before importing to Lumion.

I only wish there was an example video from one of the Lumion user on this site that would be willing to share the basic of how it is done

I never do post pro with Lumion and very rarely with Chief renders.

I have prepared a quick no voice-over workflow video of the image below... just for you. :)

Guys, what sort of money are we talking for Lumion 8 and or Unreal? I tried the Lumion 6 demo when it first came out for a commercial project I did in Chief X6. Also, would one of you guys be willing to do a short video on Lumion 8 and Unreal showing how you use it with a Chief Model for a basic Home on a lot with landscaping?

    Many Thanks.

Lumion Pro is about $3400 while Unreal is free,

I think they will deliver too...  Its just im not going to upgrade until I know for sure.  I've been learning Unreal but Lumion would be more practical for the reasons I noted above.

    Yes, It's wise to wait...

I cannot, they already gave my L8 badge

Twinmotion looked like it was going to be awesome until it was actually released.

    Amen to that,

In 13 hours Lumion 8 will be released, and like the previous teasers before this, they did not make false claims. So I'm confident it will deliver.

  13. 23 hours ago, johnny said:

Unreal is much more complicated to learn - but the results are truly way above anything else...even what you see here from Lumion.  I want to make sure this type of quality if actually achievable by Lumion ...  it could be an advertising teaser that is actually impractical to get results similar to.  I just dont know yet.

    1

UnlikeTwinmotion, Lumion 8 is certainly closing in on Unreal. The new GI has improved 200% as apparent in teaser 2.

    Good Evening Folks,

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the tile shingles in the attached plan and change to regular composite shingles.  This plan originally came from a design that used tile shingles, but I've since deleted that plan and create this new one.  However, the tile shingles are still set somewhere.  Sounds trivial but I can't figure out how to revert back to composite shingles.

    I'm using X8.

    Thanks

    Try this and rebuild roof.

Just ran a comparison with the interior lights off versus on.

The Use Camera View Settings is off, Direct sun at max, Environment lighting at max, color 255,255,255, no roof or foundation.

Why would a normal user use maxed settings?

  16. 8 hours ago, TheKitchenAbode said:

Are you certain about that? All of the samples I posted have the use camera view setting unchecked. I never use the camera view settings in my Ray Traces.

    101% certain.

It's because your ray traces always depend on LIGHTS, now try to render an interior scene without a single light source with your settings,
