  1. I have no ready answer for that - no idea. They are common even with high-end renderers, it is telling us to raytrace a little longer. If you are applying photon mapping best bet is to let it run until a scene will look good to you. Avoid too many lights, ambient occlusion will take care of the dark areas. Let's see in the next version if CA has already found a fix for that.

  4. You may click the Spherical Panoramic Backdrop, find a good wide photo.

  10. It is easier and realistic too aside from being accurate. Material Region will cut automatically where there are openings.
  11. Just apply Material Region in the Cross Section/Elevation view, adjust width/depth in the mat region Edit. Then use Multiple Copy to scatter.

  15. Hi Kirk, Yes it works fine. Please suggest to the content team to add Blur (Gloss) property to the material class settings. This must be functional to RTs with or without using photons. We can use this to any surface like metals, wood, walls. What I would do at the moment is to apply a customized bumpmap to blur reflections. Attached is a Phoebe RT without photon. The hood is a mirror with bumpmap. It looks right from a distance...
