With the increase in our SSA subscriptions, X16 had better be significant, or they'll lose me as a sincere, 26-year customer.

Every other competitor out there is more expensive than chief with the exception of soft plan or revit lt...and you'd be very dissapointed with those two. If you keep your legacy pricing, youre still paying 4.5x less than Archicad users...the only software I would consider. Just saying :) Grass, greener..that whole thing :)

Unfortunately there's no quick-sort option, but you might try creating a new schedule. To Avoid deleting and reconfiguring it, if you just copy and paste this schedule it'll create a new one with new sorting, I believe based on the original placement order of those notes, and you'll likely get double numbers (1,2  3,2  etc) on both schedules. But if the new schedule looks like what you want, delete the original schedule and move on. If not, I'm not sure there's a better way of sorting them apart from manually dragging rows.

we can renumber, which would also re-sort as well as renumber:

it's things like this that make me consider other CAD programs

We can also sort but whatever other column we want to, and this is a compounding effect, similar to the way that light's menu works:

Are you asking for something different?

Thanks Renee.  Are you proposing that I use different layouts and then combine them in a PDF when ready for print?

yes use this in an exteral editor. This solves any sizing issues with line weights so long as youre not driving line weight by the layout box settings

Is it possible to make the drawing sheet setup linked to the plan view?  I've got a plan view of the entire 1st floor being printed on ARCH D paper at a 3/8" scale.  I also need a close-up plan view of the kitchen which will be at 1/2" scale and will require the ANSI B paper size.  How is this done?  Thanks, Kevin

send it to a different layout at 1/2"=1'0" at entirely the same sheet size and print at 1/2 scale.

One more question...looks like Nvidia is out of stock on the 4090...does the brand matter? MSI or Asus? Thanks in advance.

i have the 4090 and the 7800 XTX and the differences are pretty small when it comes to chief. see if you can find the XTX.
Also, @Rich_Winsor was right. You may need other upgrades...power supply is def one of the upgrades required to run these cards

I was under the impression, that if we have active SSA, and monies are taken out monthly, that all catalogs via Chief were free?

I am looking at a couple right now that are not..  is it because they are for Home Designer series?  If so, why can't they be used in Premier?

    3D Plants - Trees

    3D Plants - Shrubs

    just to name a few..

3d Plants for Premiere includes all of these plants and its included in your SSA

We have a full set of AutoCAD plans for a 6,000SF house built in 2016 we need to have redrawn into Chief for As-Builts.  Our project scope from there is a 2 level addition and some remodel.  Does anyone offer drafting/hourly to get the AS Built plans put into Chief accurately including rooflines and all floorplan details/foundation?  Thanks.

Good afternoon. I am in need of some assistance on some projects. The cad guy I hired is not working out very well and is behind on the projects and the other gentleman I have used before is booked at this time. I need some assistance getting some drawings finalized and some started. A couple are on a tight deadline so experience with Chief and working efficiently i.e. quickly is a plus. Must have CA X15 Premier. If anyone has the time and is interested please send me a private message and I will respond. If  you are still interested, I will set up a zoom call to show the project and explain what I need to have done. Once I select someone I'll  post it. Thank you.

    Sure, contact me :)

I have an interior wall elevation (Tile, Bath 1) in my Cross Sections folder that I need to work on that uses a custom layer set (Tile and Backsplash Layer Set). I can't seem to get the shower pan to show itself not matter what I do.

-The layer that the shower pan is on is the 'Fixtures, Interior' layer and I have verified that the box for that layer is checked.

    -Tried displaying ALL layers.

-I have tried pulling my elevation camera all the way through the opposing wall.

-Even tried opening and closing shower door.

-And finally of course opening and closing the program.

    Thx for any help!

without opening your plan I am guessing that you are using a wall elevation camera, which is clipped to a room. you need to edit your active view and uncheck clip to room and then likely adjust a back clip and side clip parameters

Hello, as I get more and more into creating library objects, material copies, etc. for my pricing, I have noticed that it takes some remembering and time to export my library from work, so I can use it at home and home to work. Is there an easier/more automated way to do this? Is there a cloud sink that I am missing? I would love to make new library entries at one location and have it automatically update at the other. Thanks.

Depends on where you have your chief data stored but you can always take the User_Library.calib file and sync it up to the cloud and overwrite from one machine to the other. This is a lot of data transfering though, better to do it with an external. Put a USB thumb drive on a keychain or use a NAS

I am trying to raise the manual drawn roof planes over a front porch.  I have the top of plate at 142 inches and want to raise the roofs 24 inches.  Using the transform replicate i enter 24 inches and the results indicate the top of plate for the two side roofs is 167 11/16".  The top of plate for the middle roof plane is 167 1/2". why are the TOPs not the same value and why not 166 inches?

    Thanks,

This is a good reason for just using auto build, snce you would need to raise your porch rooms height in order to achieve this.
So either raise your porch room 24" with your roof planes or set your railings to baloon through ceiling...Otherwise its using your default exterior wall to build from and that has a different size main layer from your railings

I do highly complex custom homes in Wisconsin, so a lot of houses have a full or half exposure basement. If you say have a half or full exposure basement, can you still have foundation on level 0 and the walkout/half exposure on floor 1? Is there a video reference of this somewhere? Right now I have it all on floor zero and it works pretty well for the most part but I am always looking to make improvements. Thanks.

works well, its just showing your stem wall and footer/footing on floor 0. Much easier to show floor framing views or SOG and also way easier to do a full build out without messing with layer sets etc.
I do not have a video on this cept for in a paid part of my discord where I went over foundations. Surprised if there isnt one floating around somewhere on the net

My foundation is on floor zero, walkout basements on floor 1...HIGHLY suggest this. You'll find that most of the power users that attend the advanced level  II in Idaho do it this way for a myriad of reasons :)

not sure how everyone else does it, but I generally do not use the working layer set. I have my foundation SPV set up, so that any text created on it, is put on a layer Text, Foundation.

The only reason I use the working layer set to to see what is on the plan, because the "All on set" is too much

I  use the working layer set. No issue with text since my foundation is on floor 0 and there is no other text that would make it onto floor 0 so why not have it on the default text laayer

Saved Plan Views earlier iteration was called Annotation Sets. Saved Plan Views are preprogrammed to group things of a type to a drafting result in terms of layers (on and off), Text for different layers (Electric-Text , Plot Plan-Text, Text, Text-Framing, Text-Framing), so when you select a "Plan Set" it automatically switches to the programmed layer, layer set, Text and CAD layer for theselevted plan set chosen.

    DJP

SPV never existed before just FYI. We never had save floor reference or remember zoom etc.
Default sets were previously called Annotation Sets

Hello, I have a question that is very hard for my mind to figure out, and probably simple for everyone else.  I have never been able to successfully use Saved plan views.  My question is, when I change my foundation Saved plan view, it also changes my working layer set view.  I am not sure how to change this.  So I then can't remove cabints from my foundastion because it changes the Working layer set. I think maybe that I have always drawn the plan in the Working layer Set.  Should I use a different Saved plan view to begin a new plan?  I would begin in Working Layer set and then save different Saved Plan views for my layout.  I don't quite understand the Working Layer set

Your Working SPV got designated to use the Active Layer Set. Change the default by editing the active view to use the working layer set instead of the whatever the foundation SPV is using

    Hello All,

Just looking for a bit of advice. I have an existing two story house w/ two car garage that has a full basement (under the house only). The client would like to change the basement to a slab on grade with 4' frost wall (attached a section of the type of foundation they'd like). There is a porch and deck. The garage floor is 24" below the main floor (I changed this to 12" for the slab, can be changed to whatever it needs to be to work).

When I try to rebuild the foundation to this type I get lots of issues. The floor is 12" below the top of the stem wall in the house as well as the garage. There are other issues with heights of the rooms. The porch and deck floors are over 18" above the main floor level. Probably should be slabs as well?

Anyway, would it make sense to start from scratch? I don't want to mess up the drawing too much.

    Thanks in advance.
