SingletonRW
I had to do a clean install of OS and all software. Now when I do a Ray Trace I get the following error message: Unable to perform photon mapping. It goes through 1 or 2 passes then stops. It performed perfectly before reinstall. It will do a Ray Trace perfectly turning Photon Mapping off, but it looks better and less grainy on. Any ideas guys. SingletonRW
I may have solved it. I copied floor plan into a new plan and it works fine norw. I guess plan got corrupted when PC crashed. Now I need to know if there is an easy way ow Copt/Paste all 3 floors at once so everything lines up or do I have to do Basement and second floor over? Gawdzira
Do your copy of the plan file using the Edit Area copy command. That can copy all floors at once.
Doug_Park
That sound's like a plan that you should get to our support team so that we can look into why you get that message. It isn't something that is typical. A corrupt file is a possible cause. You may want to go to your backups if you have them or if not maybe look at the archives that Chief makes. SingletonRW
I had to recover plans using a data rescue program from a crashed hard drive. After I copied the plan into a new plan it worked fine.
SingletonRW
Ok, we still have a problem with Ray Traces. I rebuilt the plan from scratch and it still is worse than before system crash. I have attached several examples. 1A is of an empty room (Camera View) 1B is a 25 pass Ray Trace without Photon Mapping it took 1m 32s 1C is a 25 pass Ray Trace with Photon Mapping it took 8m 42s Not to bad. 2A is of a bathroom vanity and cabinets (Camera View) 2B is a 25 pass Ray Trace without Photon Mapping it took 2m 23s 2C is a 25 pass Ray Trace with Photon Mapping it took 10m 34s Still not bad considering the mirror. 3A is also in bathroom. Shot of a seating area, cabinets and shower entry (Camera View) 3B is a 25 pass Ray Trace without Photon Mapping it took 2m 30s (But dark with 4 light sources) 3C is a 25 pass Ray Trace with Photon Mapping it took 10m 46s Still not bad 4A is same as 3A with window (Camera View) 4B is a 25 pass Ray Trace without Photon Mapping it took 6m 15s (But dark with 4 light sources) 4C try a 25 pass Ray Trace with Photon Mapping & I get: The following error occured Unable to perform photon mapping. It has something to to with the outside, backdrop or something. It has a very large terrain perimeter. I ran one earlier of 3C and it took over 3 hours. I don't know if a texture or material is slowing it down or what. I have also attached the plan itself. Just adding general light sourses, no fixtures. I uninstalled CA X7 and reinstalled and the speed is acceptable. Just can't figure out why it crashes with a window or an outside shot. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Solution SingletonRW Posted July 13, 2015 Author Solution Share Posted July 13, 2015 Nevermind, my terrain perimeter was to large. No 1 mile x 1 mile perimeters. Sorry, but thanks for all the help.
