having troubles with wall framing

Try and keep this short. I have been using X14 and X15. Drew drawings for my new home. Built the home during the year 2025. Never installed X16. The drawing for the house were done. Didn't want any problems with new updates. House completed. Finaly download X17. It didn't migrate well. Had to track down file and materials so on. No fault of Chief architect. Alot of it was probably me.

Started working on updates to the house plans. Everything seem to be working great.

Now the small problem. Drawing a shed on the house plans. Wanted to do the wall framing. It will not put in the wall framing. Roof framing yes. Draw any type of wall, can't put in the wall framing. The wall framing shows up on the house that were drawn before on X14 and X15, but not on any new wall I draw. None of the layer are locked. Open up a new plan draw some wall and I can install the wall framing. Should I look for something else I may have off? Problem with the file?

Do you have automatic rebuild turned on for the wall framing?   If not then you need to rebuild the wall framing manually.  Try selecting the wall and use the "build framing" edit button.

 

If you have auto rebuild on, or you have tried manually building the wall framing, and it still doesn't show then you might have messed up the wall definition.  Make sure the "main layer" of the wall type is set to be framing and all of the other layers are not.

 

The only other obvious thing is to make sure the wall framing layer is turned on.

 

If none of that helps, then  you should probably post the plan.

Thanks. Made me check deeper. I had "Retain Wall Framing" checked on "Wall Specification". Now I remembered that did want things to change in the house plans. So, I checked it.

I knew it couldn't be the file, because even older drawings wouldn't let me add framing to a new wall.

It sounds like a plan-specific setting or framing layer issue. Since wall framing works correctly in a new plan, I’d check the shed’s wall framing settings, wall type, and framing layers first. If those are correct, the migrated file may have a plan-specific issue.
