I don't understand how room labels are working in X18

Used to be able to select and modify room labels, i.e. change color, text, customize; can't seem to figure out how to do that in X18. I prefer the room labels to be different colors in different plan views and layer sets but it seems once you create a room those parameters become locked. What am I missing?

In X18, Room Labels are handled in the Room Specification.

 

So you open up the room, and click on "Label" on the left side.  All info is shown there.

I saw that, but it still won't let me change the color of the text, or font, specific to that room, vs changing the global label style, which conflicts with my templates.

Nevermind, I see now the Room label is now associated with the color of the 'room' layer; not the 'room label' layer color like it used to

You have complete control over the layer that room labels are on (and any other labels):

Btw, there are lots of changes to room labels (and other labels as well) in X18.  Room label should work more like other object labels now but there are also some new features that let you do things like you could in X17. 

 

First, and probably most important, when you select a room (or any other object) and you want to do things just to the label, you can click on the "edit label" tool.  This will open up a new toolbar with a bunch of label specific tools:
