Gawdzira
I am not an Apple user so bear with me. I have an Ipad Pro 3rd gen. I have loaded the As Built App but when I open a new project to edit, I don't see an option to Scan. The top of the menu reads Name- My Plan Last Modified- DATE, etc Defaults Display Room Schedule Is there a setting to activate camera usage? Gawdzira
The info on the Ipad shows the coverage expired Feb, 2020. Is this unit too old?

rwdozier
Just to follow up, I learned that Apple's generation numbering is different for the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros. My iPad is an 11-inch (3rd generation, 2021, model A2377), which includes the LiDAR scanner. The 12.9-inch 3rd generation is the older 2018 model and predates LiDAR. Apple added LiDAR beginning with the 2020 iPad Pro models (11-inch 2nd generation and 12.9-inch 4th generation). I wasn't looking to buy a brand-new iPad, so I picked up an Amazon Renewed "Excellent" 11-inch iPad Pro (3rd generation, M1, 256 GB) for $469. After getting it set up, I confirmed that LiDAR works perfectly with the As-Built app and with Magicplan using my Bosch Bluetooth laser measure. It turned out to be a very cost-effective way to get LiDAR capability without paying new-iPad prices. Also, if you happen to own a newer iPhone Pro (I am an Android user), you may already have what you need. Chief Architect's supported device list includes the iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max and all newer Pro models, so you may already have LiDAR capability without purchasing another device.
Gawdzira
Thanks, I just placed an order for a refurbished unit. I am a die hard Android phone user.
rwdozier
Good for you! The LiDAR auto scan is really amazing! I ask many folks with iPhone, "When are you going to get a 'real' phone?".
