AllGen
I've watched all the roof videos and can't seem to find a way to do this. I want to create a small roof over the two front doors on the first floor of the structure. When create a roof line it defaults to the second floor. If I change the ridge height to the plate height of the first floor, it drags the second floor wall material down. Area I want the roof is highlighted in red. Can someone tell me the method. Solution BenPalmer Posted Friday at 05:08 PM Solution Share Posted Friday at 05:08 PM If doing a auto roof, then create a porch on the first floor using a wall at the depth you want the porch/roof. Then either make the wall invisible, or make it a wood material and put a doorway in it to create the beam that will hold the roof. Or draw the roof manually. AllGen
I'll give that a shot. Thanks
AllGen
Sorry, I think we are talking about two different things. I think the technical term is a door hood. Just a small shingled roof that extends from the flat wall on the first floor over the doors. Just something to be out of the rain while they enter the house. It doesn't require a foundation. If I draw walls and make them invisible it alters the foundation And creates a floor above it.
BenPalmer
That's still how I do it because it's fast, easy and automatic...I just recess or delete the foundation and the 'floor above' isn't create unless you create it...but if you don't want to use walls and all the auto stuff, then draw the roof manually...will take 2 clicks...plus any beams or corbels you may want added. AllGen
I figured it out. Building the manual roof plane but what I was doing wrong was setting the ridge height to the plate height. I needed to set the baseline to the wall plate height. Thanks
