JeffDressing Posted yesterday at 06:24 PM Share Posted yesterday at 06:24 PM How do I cut the stem wall in the garage out for the garage doors? The stem wall goes up over top of the doors. They are not automatically getting cut down. I tried adding a break in it in 3D view, but that did not work.
BenPalmer Posted yesterday at 06:32 PM Share Posted yesterday at 06:32 PM Assuming your rooms are set up correctly, try this setting in the garage door rough opening dbx:
JeffDressing Posted yesterday at 10:55 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 10:55 PM Hi Ben, I've tried that and the stem wall does go away under any of the doors. You can see that it covers the bottom of the door.
BenPalmer Posted yesterday at 10:57 PM Share Posted yesterday at 10:57 PM Your screen shot shows it 'unchecked'...what happens when you 'check' it? You may also have to reset the stem wall heights to 'default' if you have manually moved them in elevation.
JeffDressing Posted yesterday at 10:58 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 10:58 PM I probably have something messed up with the foundation in the garage. Here is a pic of the interior.
BenPalmer Posted yesterday at 11:00 PM Share Posted yesterday at 11:00 PM I suspect room definitions for the foundation are the culprit...but can only guess when looking at still shots. JeffDressing
I removed the stem wall by setting it to 0 and it fixed the problem. The door goes to the floor now. How do I lower the garage floor to be level with the driveway on the terrain level? It is 4" higher than the driveway. I wanted to add the stem wall around the garage, but the floor does not go down. mtldesigns
@JeffDressing How do I lower the garage floor to be level with the driveway on the terrain level? Think backwards on this. Your main floor is at 0", so set your garage floor to a negative number (my example attached I have -8"). Meaning the main floor of your house is 8" above the garage floor. Your terrain heigh should be about the same thing... Pick your terrain, and open it up. The "Surface At Contour 0" setting should be the same negative number as your garage floor depth. I always add another inch, but that's just me. See if that helps. Edited 20 hours ago by mtldesigns
JeffDressing
That did not work... Let me step back and show how I got there. The foundation was built automatically When I lower the garage floor, it leaves the stem up around the walls. The doors in the garage do not cut out the stem wall. This is the problem I included screen shots of the walls and of the door and how I got to where I'm at. I want to have the traditional curb (stem wall) around the garage with the step down and it should cut out under all the doors.
BenPalmer
Your screen shot still has 'show in floor below' unchecked...that needs to be checked...or clicked on.... Have you tried that yet? (see my first post and second post)
