DJSSDB
I am making a tapered leg for an island, and can only adjust front face. I've made a 3D solid and shaped it from the front elevation view. When I switch to an elevation from a side view, the leg, still square, is now divided into three parts that I cannot adjust. I can select each of the three parts from the side elevation; top, thin middle where the line is curved, and the long tapered leg bottom. However, I cannot place any line breaks for adjustments. Is there a fix for this? Or should I scrap and try a better method to make the leg? I'm using X15
MarkMc
Make leg from solid, then convert to a symbol, use advanced options to set stretch planes or zones. Keep the plan in case you need a different variation. (half or 3/4 or something else)
DJSSDB
So far, I've made the solid and shaped from one side, but when I try to do the other side with the same profile, I run into the issue where I cannot adjust the solid. If I convert to symbol with only adjusting from one axis, will I be able to mirror that adjustment on the other 2 sides?
DBCooper
Editing the face of a poly solid in multiple elevations can get a bit funky. You might have better luck using the subtraction tool instead. Another way to create a tapered leg like that is by using moldings. If you use something like a soffit or countertop, you can add a molding profile to create the wider parts instead of cutting away the narrower parts. DJSSDB
Thanks DBCooper. It is definitely funky, haven't encountered that before. I only need it for shop drawings on this one, so I may just spin the leg for the side elevation and call it good. (The 1/4" taper is imo an unnecessary corner detail on this thing anyway... )
