DeLayDesign
Today I noticed a little star on my custom user library. When I right clicked the Library it said 'optimize'. I clicked it and it says it has freed 17772 KB... what did I just do exactly?
DBCooper
Did it say "optimize" or did it say "vacuum"? I have never seen optimize but according to the manual this is what the vacuum does: When content is deleted from the Library Browser, data associated with that content may remain in the library database. If you delete library content for the purpose of increasing available disk space, you can right-click on the User Catalog as well as the Trash and select Vacuum from the contextual menu. See The Library Browser.
chiefjone9
I had the same experience, basically the “Optimize" option removes small unnecessary or duplicate files from the library. It frees up some space and makes the library lighter to load.
Eric_S
The documentation is slightly out of date. "Vacuum" was recently renamed to "Optimize Space" in X17, but the functionality is the same - it reduces the space it takes on disk to the smallest possible size. 1
