Pdf Printing

Anybody else having problems with printing pdf's?  My problems are at least two fold and may not be related.

My system is MacBook Pro Applem M3 Max, 36G Memory, Sequoia 15.5. Epson WF 7720 Printer. Using Chief X16

1.  I use the Chief pdf printer to create a pdf file to scale from my Layout file and then physically print it.  If I use 'Preview' it is not printing to scale (it's close to scale, but no cigar).  If I open and try to print using   Adobe Acrobat Reader,  It won't let me print at all.  I haven't changed printers or my settings (that I know of!  LOL!).  I have downloaded the latest drivers for my Epson WF 7720 printer and that didn't fix it.  I'm up to date with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

  • I was able to get Adobe Acrobat Reader to print a file (can't remember what I did exactly) but I got it to print a file and it printed to scale.  I think it was a security setting issue, but I haven't been able to get it the same document to print and it looks to me that there is no security on my document.
  • I've attached the Adobe Acrobat Reader message that I get.  The link sends me to a generic print troubleshooting page.  Despite the inability to print, Adobe Acrobat Reader is communicating with my printer as my printer spits out a blank page of the paper size of the file I'm trying to print.  I am able to print from 'Preview' (but it is not to scale) and every other software program on my Mac.
  • I think the problem may be related to a security setting somewhere in Adobe, but all efforts to find that setting have failed.

I know that one should never scale a plan set for accuracy, but if it says it is 1/2" = 1.0 ft...it should be 1/2" =0.5” 1.0 ft...and I have guys on a project that are doing just that!  Despite my protestations.

Any help will be appreciated.

MBP M1max

I print to PDF at 100% scale.  No issues.

My layout is set at ARCH D (36x24)

Everything is scaled already in layout.

I have to remind print shops to print at 100% because sometimes their machines will print at 95%.

I had a permit office guy call me out as if my plans were not drawn to scale........client had them reprinted correctly........no apologies.

Now everyone is PDF only.

I'll make a video if that helps
