VeraWangCassara
Looking for someone to help us renovating a lake house. The current structure (on the right from the picture) has an A-Frame with 3 add-ons on 3 sides. kitchen is on the right which is tiny. Another bedroom on the left. and a garage behind (you can't see from the picture) and another 1-bedroom on top of the garage. I want to open up the first floor that can connect all 3 units. that means I need to remove part of the two original A-Frame side walls. Is that something that can be done? Thanks so much

HOW it could be done - or whether it's even practical - is difficult to answer from what you posted, and maybe impossible to answer on a discussion forum like this. Best bet is ask a local contractor.
Doug_N
The answer, as indicated from Chris is yes. Before that can be done, you need to consult with someone qualified in your area to visit the building, look at the current construction, and assess what it might take, and if it would be practical. No question about if it can technically be done, but will it be worth it? Maybe is the only answer that anyone could offer from the photos. I don't agree with asking a local contractor. Ask a qualified designer, architect or structural engineer.

Structural supports such as columns, beams, headers, bracing, etc. will most certainly need to be designed by an engineer licensed in your state and added to the renovation scheme.
