PitMan71
Hey folks I am trying to figure out how to extend my brick pony wall down over the face of my slab in my drawings. I have watched this video from CA, but it doesn't work. I have even created just a standard siding wall enclosure and I can't get the cladding to extend down. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/257/extend-siding-over-foundation-slab.html?playlist=88#:~:text=Use wall settings to extend the siding, sheathing layers down over the foundation slab. Is there some trick to this process that I am missing? Thanks Shane
joey_martin
Are you sure you want the brick extended OVER the slab, or setting on brick ledge that is part of the slab? That setting is in in the wall definition.

PitMan71
Thanks for the information, but I tried it. Didn't work for me. Being a newbie I started out just dragging the brick material down to the terrain to cover the slab only to find out that it was dragging the wall frame down with it. While it gives me the look I want its not technically correct. Here is the plan if you want to have a look. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/m6yl31x3hd479s8g52evh/2000SF-Lily-Plan.plan?rlkey=ec6z4he43kd1kpw4qywmvkklj&st=y0zwc6c9&dl=0 Im sure I am missing something. joey_martin
You have a ton of cleanup to do on the walls, but if you look at the WIC in the bottom right of your plan I fixed that wall and rebuilt the foundation, which you didn't have built. 2000SF Lily Plan.zip
PitMan71
Okay.... Thanks. I will go have a look at what you did.
PitMan71
Okay... Rookie error.... As you said I had not create the foundation yet. Ugg.... The look I want is like the attached detail. Can I achieve it using the pony wall and dropping it beneath the floor? Or should I go at this some other way? Thanks
joey_martin
Your stem wall needs to be a pony wall. no need for a workaround or pulling the brick down, just create that stem wall and use it for your foundation.
PitMan71
Hey Joey I got the look I was going for with your help.... I have learned a lot because of your help. There is one small anomaly with the finished product and I can't figure it out. The brick course won't join at the rear right corner of the garage.... I have tried several things to remedy, but it's not helping. I can't figure why this corner is not behaving.

basketballman
How did you get your rowlock to connect ?
PitMan71
It was automatic except for at the one corner. I created it using a foundation CMU wall with CMU/brick pony wall with a brick rowlock on the top. To create the brick rowlock I used a profile I created. Hope this helps.
