basketballman
Love to help. " Bob is amazing ! Most other designers we talked to had little or no real world construction knowledge. His many years of previous experience running a design build firm proved to be invaluable. Having quantity take offs already completed and on plan sheets, alone, was a huge time and money saver. Bob's design and estimating capabilities resulted in us knowing the cost of building our project very early on." BillyEv
If Charles Volz contacts you, RUN, don't walk away from his proposal. He didn't finish my project. 4 weeks wasted, waiting. $1500 for an unfinished job, flushed.
para-CAD
Wow. I know the feeling, but I won't name the culprit. His big thing was don't ghost him. So he ghosts me. Crazy. I even worked for free just to put him at ease to see if collaboration would work out before I charged him. I guess it wasn't working out for him. It's funny as you say, finishing touches......so many people create a rendered model, but have no interest or skill in creating the actual plans for permit. The Model is no more than 30%-ish of the effort. If you see someone as just finishing touches.....that's a collision waiting to happen. You should contact Bob.....he is a former framer.....that's money. Sad you lost $$$.......that's never acceptable.

I terminated our agreement and refunded 7.4 hours. My agreement has the right to terminate by either party. I terminated (for reasons I will not air out here) and refunded the unused portion per our agreement. Fair and square. If anyone really cares, just call me. BillyEv
Call you ? That's a hoot. When I talked to you on the phone, it was "going to get this done - work weekends not overtime. Then you ghosted me for 3 weeks. I was patient. I left you alone to do my design for three weeks. You, Charles missed every promised opportunity to turn my work around in a timely fashion and the 12.6 hours i received was a huge waste of money compared to waiting 5 weeks for the drafting service that was never completed. Then after selecting a builder, I contacted you about your schedule, and you said you could start them on a particular day, and you missed that start day by 1.5 weeks. Then you did some overpriced work and canceled the contract unfinished. What else is there to know ? Honestly, it was a terrible experience for me. You wasted my important time and my money. I figured I'd farm out the work so I could work on the plot plan. Had I known that Charles would waste 5 weeks and not finish the job, I'd have done it myself, which I ended up doing. Here's a little tid-bit after I inquired about the status of the job, days after his self promised complete date. Classy act, not. Search elsewhere for your services, guys. Charles has other things on his mind at 3am other than working on your jobs.

As it turns out, Bob's 2 week vacation was nothing compared to the four weeks I ended up waiting for an incomplete job. 3 weeks up front with no progress even after being promised verbally how hard he'd work at getting it done ! para-CAD
Damn It sucks when promises are unkept. Well, I help people, initially for free just to see if it will work out. Even that doesn't always work, but at least no one can claim I stole money for sub-par service. Good luck to you in your future endeavors.
