DavidInMaine
Hi all. Can't figure out what I've done for my roof overhangs to have these unconnected shapes that look like lowered soffits just floating in air. (it is not happening on the right side bump out with separate roof line). Would appreciate any insights. thanks, David
DBCooper
Maybe your fascia is smaller than your roof structure.
DavidInMaine
Thanks for your reply. Could you advise how I would determine if that was the issue?
DBCooper
See picture below. All I did was make my gable fascia 4" which is much smaller than my roof thickness causing the gap.
DavidInMaine
Reducing to 4" didn't work for me. I increased from 7 1/4" to 10" and it at least hid the shapes on the left side, but they are still hanging much lower than this on the right side. (Duplicating left roof to replace the right roof still had same issue so it's something in a wall or something and not the roof). Not sure what else to try? DB was saying that he reproduced your problem situation by reducing fascia to 4". Make your subfascia deeper or your roof structure (rafters probably) less deep. DavidInMaine
Monkeying with the subfascia helped mask it. thank you.
